{Blogspiration} 4th of July Treats and Crafts

I've shared this post before but it's been a few years so I thought I'd revisit some of my previous 4th of July ideas.   We're hosting a party this weekend for Mr. Click. What are you up to?

These were fun for the 4th of July parade!
This one goes way back to 2010 and is one my first posts, we still have it on our front porch!
Here's another one from 2010, look how little College Girl was!
A tasty treat for your festivities.
This was a quick and easy craft for some added patriotic swag.  #getit? #swag
Here's how I used it to decorate our summer mantel.
These taste as good as they look!
These are still a favorite and so easy!

I hope you have a wonderful 4th of July weekend!  Did you see my last post, Life Lately...?

A Weekend of Vegan Food & Fun

We had a lovely weekend of delicious vegan food and I thought I'd take you along.
We started out on a Friday afternoon in beautiful Peddler's Village.

We walked around the scarecrow festival and stopped at the winery for a little refreshment (I did not eat that pumpkin!).
On Saturday we had reservations at one of our  favorite  spots in Philly for amazing vegan Latin food (Bar Bombón).   We were thrilled  they had added lots of outdoor dining.  We started with the homemade chips and queso dip.

It was a little chilly outside so I was happy to try one of their newer warm up cocktails. I had the Atol De Elote and it was served with its own little thermos.
The drink came with a blanket that I got to keep (and kept me cozy at the table).
We also shared some Philly Steak Empanadas.
Our favorite dish is the fantastic Spanish 'meat'balls served with grilled garlic bread.   We also shared some traditional tacos but  I forgot to get a pic!
After feeling stuffed from brunch, we walked around town and it was nice to see it looking busy and bustling again.
We walked through Rittenhouse Square where there was a farmer's market, yoga  classes, picnics and lots of cute doggies.
I love walking around some of the pretty neighborhoods.
It was such a beautiful fall day.
We did a little shopping too (stopping in at Urban Outfitters).

The next day I got a 'Sausage Egg and Cheese' sandwich from Luhv Bistro. This was the first time I  had it and it was a winner!
We went to a farmer's market that morning and picked up the ingredients for some Potato Leek Corn Chowder.  Recipe coming soon!  We also went to a Grocery Outlet and found some great buys.
That night we tried our hand at these dinner rolls (practicing for Thanksgiving) and they turned out pretty well! I'm getting hungry just writing this post!

Quarantine Times - Weeks 7 - 9

I'm losing track of what week we're in but does it really matter? Here's what we've been up to (and eating) lately.
Sunday brunch has become a weekly tradition at our house and this particular week we had biscuits and gravy. Mr. Click made it all - with two kinds of biscuits and vegan sausage gravy.
Some nights have been nice enough to sit outside on the deck.
Dairy Queen has dairy free Dilly Bars!  So good!
I tried a few new recipes but this was the only one I got a photo of.
Mr. Click built me a raised garden bed as an early Mother's Day gift and he and College Girl filled it with veggie plants for me!
I finally got around to hemming my bedroom curtains from this post.  I hemmed them using this No-Sew Technique of mine.

Mother's Day- it was so nice to have both girls home.  My day started with an early morning walk with this guy.
Getting spoiled!
Since it was Sunday, of course we had brunch. This time it was breakfast sammies and hash browns.  Homemade iced coffee from this post too.
My first Negroni cocktail (it's chilly again!).  Inspired by this video.

I did a quick photo shoot with College Girl-I'll share more of that later but if you follow me on Instagram (@heather_ourlife) you've probably seen a sneak peek.
We ended the day with our usual neighborhood walk and they indulged me with a photo.
What have you been up to?

{Recipe} Homemade Limoncello & Raspberry Limoncello Prosecco

We decided a few days before Christmas that we'd have a signature cocktail at Christmas dinner that required limoncello.   As if we didn't have enough to do, we also decided to make our own limoncello.

It really wasn't hard but you need at least 4-5 days leading up to when you'll need to use it. We followed this recipe.

Ingredients:
10 lemons
1 (750-ml) bottle of vodka
3 1/2 cups water
2 1/2 cups sugar
To make:
  • Peel lemons with vegetable peeler and put peels into a pitcher (save lemons for other uses).
  • Pour vodka over lemon peels, cover with plastic wrap and let steep for 4 days at room temperature.
  • Make simple syrup: Stir sugar and water in a large saucepan over medium heat until sugar dissolves.  Let cool completely.
  • Pour syrup over vodka mixture, cover and let stand at room temperature overnight.
  • Strain through a mesh strainer, discard peels.
  • Pour into bottles and chill in freezer or refrigerator.
  • Enjoy!

To make this Raspberry Limoncello Prosecco you'll need:
Ingredients:
3 cups prosecco, chilled
1 cup limoncello, chilled(more or less depending on how strong you like it)
1 cup fresh or frozen raspberries
6 sprigs of fresh mint
 To make:
  • Combine prosecco and limoncello in a tall pitcher.
  • Serve over raspberries and add a sprig of mint.

It's light and refreshing and the raspberries and mint look like Christmas!Pin It
