Stranger Things on Broadway - again!

 I got to see Stranger Things The First Shadow on Broadway- again!

The last time I saw it was in June with City Girl #1.  This time I won the ticket lottery and took Mr. Click. 

It was a rainy weekend and getting to see a Broadway show was the perfect outing for a Sunday. We started our trip on the train in rainy NJ.

It had stopped raining when we got into NYC so we walked to the Marquis Theatre.

I didn't take as many photos of the theatre this time so if you are curious about it, you can see it all here.

I was excited for Mr. Click to see the show and I was excited to see it again-after watching season 5 of Stranger Things.

We had great seats and they are quite comfortable for theatre seats with more legroom than most.   The show was fantastic again and Mr. Click loved it.

We weren't planning to have dinner in the city but the sun had come out and it was so warm that we decided to stay in the city a little longer to enjoy the weather.

I had a list of places to try on my phone and we tried Bocca di Bacco. The service and food were great!   Another fun day in the city!

Stranger Things on Broadway-A Day in NYC

City Girl #1 called and asked if I wanted to go see Stranger Things The First Shadow on Broadway the next day. She had won the ticket lottery and had a second ticket up for grabs. It was for a Sunday matinee and the timing worked so I said "yes"!

 Mr. Click dropped me off a the train station and I read my book on the way to the city.

CG met me at Penn Station and we stopped for some cappuccinos on our walk to the theatre.

The show is in the Marquis Theatre in the Marriott Marquis Hotel. It's very slick and modern looking.  You take a few escalators up to the theatre.

We didn't get a cocktail but some of them looked interesting.

I wasn't sure what the show was about but did a little research before I got up there.

It's set in Hawkins in 1959 so it's a prequel to the Stranger Things tv show. We absolutely loved this show.  It has some scary parts of course (one huge jump scare for me!) and the special effects are incredible--truly mind blowing!  The cast was amazing and the show had so many fun elements, there was a lot of music, dancing and humor and it's a play not a musical!  Seeing the Stranger Things tv show  parents as high school kids was a lot of fun too.  

It is a long show, almost 3 hours and I had to book it out of there to get my train home.  CG got me to Penn Station in plenty of time.   Waiting for my NJ Transit platform is always stressful.

I had a nice, uneventful train ride home and I couldn't stop thinking about the show!!

Mr. Click and I had a really nice dinner on the way home.  What a Sunday!

{Theatre} NYC Little Shop of Horrors

I won the Broadway ticket lottery again and this time for Little Shop of Horrors.

City Girl #2 had been wanting to see this version starring Jinx Monsoon and Corbin Bleu so it was meant to be!

I took the train to the city and we had a nice dinner together before heading to the theatre.

We were early so we had time to explore the theatre...

...and take a few photos.

We had really great seats!

We enjoyed a little prosecco before the show started.  It was a lot of fun and the cast was amazing. 

Mr. Click was driving up the next day so we could help her start to move to her new place. We got some bagel sammies before we started the moving.

They had to run back for another load of stuff so I started organizing her kitchen and took a break to put my feet up for a few minutes. I love her new place! It was a very fun and productive weekend in NYC.

Moulin Rouge in Philly

 I won the ticket lottery again, this time for Moulin Rouge! The Musical when it came through Philly. Mr. Click took the day off and we made a day of it. We took the train to the city for the matinee show.  We walked around the Fashion District for awhile because we were early and it was hot outside.

Heading over to the theatre and we picked up our tickets at the box office. Our seats weren't great this time but we were able to move to get a better view once it started.

We've seen Moulin Rouge the movie, but it's been awhile so we weren't quite sure what to expect.

We loved the show and how they updated it from the movie with newer songs while keeping the important ones in the show. We are always blown away by the talent of these performers.  We had an early dinner at our favorite Bar Bombon then walked back to the train for an easy ride home!

{Field Trip} Jagged Little Pill in Philly

This was a cure for the January blues.  I won the ticket lottery for Jagged Little Pill's tour in Philly.

The tickets were for a Sunday matinee.  It was a beautiful day.

We picked up the tickets at the box office and walked around a little before the show.

We were in the balcony and had a great view of the stage.

We didn't know anything about the show beforehand so we went in with zero expectations.  We loved it and knew every song. The talent was incredible!

After the show we went out for "linner" at a new-to-us restaurant, The Dandelion. It is an English style pub but it feels like you're in someone's cozy home.

We had this room to ourselves!  Do you have the January blues?  I hope you've figured out some fun things to beat them!

We visited College Girl in Boston in February and had a really nice trip.  It was only a month later that we had to pick her up and move her home.

{Philly} Day At the Theatre

Another Philly post, what do you know?  My ticket lottery luck struck again and I won the lottery for tickets to Cruel Intentions The 90's Musical.

The show was playing at the Kimmel Center in Philly and this was our first time going to this venue.  My romper is from this post.

We were able to pick which show and time we wanted and selected a Saturday matinee.

The theatre is gorgeous.

We didn't know anything about the musical but I had listened to the soundtrack and knew it was going to be a good one.

The show is based on the movie by the same name and is full of 90's hit tunes. We knew them all.  It was a really fun show!

After the show we walked around looking for a place for dinner but ended up at our favorite Bar Bombón.  That queso was amazing!

It was such a beautiful night and we didn't want to leave.

Rittenhouse Square was looking so picture perfect.

We needed to walk off our dinner and were enjoying the perfect spring night.

The gardens were all blooming and the park was hopping.

This trip we really took our time and discovered some new things.

Like this Giant Frog sculpture.

You can't get a much better day/night than this one was!
