{Travel} Virginia/Maryland Getaway, Concert & Gun Powder Falls State Park

In my last post, you saw our quiet Memorial Day weekend which was ok because the following week we had fun little getaway planned.

 Mr. Click's work band had a gig in Virginia. Our first stop was band practice and I took a long walk around this pretty shopping area while they rehearsed.

We stayed at a TRU by Hilton and it was my first time staying in one. I loved the bright lobby.

Our room was cute too. 

I thought it was all so well designed.

I appreciated the extra  shelf in the bathroom. There are never enough surfaces in a hotel bathroom if you ask me.

We went for coffee at one of our favorite places.

We had dinner that night at Ted's Bulletin.  I loved it!

We sat around this fire pit for awhile after dinner.

In the morning we found a new place to walk.

It was Elizabeth Mills State Park.

The views were stunning.  We traveled to Manassas later in the day (and stopped for some outlet shopping).

That night was the gig and this was my 'fit' (new shirt from LOFT outlet).

It was the perfect day for an outdoor show.

Work band was on fire!

It was a corporate event with lots of food and drink options. I tried the frosé.

We stayed for the headliner, Coffey Anderson.  I didn't know of him but became a fan by the end of the night.

He was such a nice guy too. 

I've started watching his Netflix show now.

The next morning we had breakfast in the hotel (a different TRU by Hilton). I was mesmerized by the pancake maker.  You can watch it here on my Reels  https://www.instagram.com/heather_ourlife/

We headed out for some more hiking and stopped at Gunpowder State Park in Maryland.

It wasn't great for hiking but it had a nice beach.  

This sign explains the name Gunpowder River and the legend that surrounds it.

We walked around for awhile and then found a place for lunch on the water.

We were about halfway home and Bowley's was a good place to stop.

{Travel} Virginia Gig & North East Maryland

I got  to tag along on a business trip with Mr. Click last month. 

I'm always up for a little getaway, especially these days!  I got a good sun flare selfie while we were stopped for lunch and he was on a call.

Our hotel was near the Washington & Old Dominion walking trail in Virginia so we had a beautiful place to walk and explore each day.

I'm excited that they're adding more rail trails to our county at home too.  We were having some gorgeous, unseasonably warm days so it was great to be outside and enjoying them.

We had lunch outside at  Uncle Julio's (I miss UJ!). The veggie fajitas were  so good!

Mr. Click was also  playing at the industry event with his "work band".  It was held at a brewery that seemed like a great place to  hang out.  
The event benefited veterans and the organization Wreaths Across America.  There were two really great speakers and then the band went on.

It was fun to see him play again! 

The next day we started heading  home and got our first holiday Starbucks cup of coffee.

We were taking our time getting  home and stopped at the cute town of North East, Maryland.  We had driven though the town once before during this vineyard trip but wanted to stop this time and look around.  We had lunch here on the porch of the Pour House.

I noticed this pomegranate tree at the house next door. I'd never seen a pomegranate tree before!

The town had lots of pretty houses and stores.

It was another beautiful day for walking around.

We went into a few shops but didn't find anything to take home with us.

Santa's  House was a nice idea. Kids can visit with Santa on weekends here during the holiday season. He wasn't there yet because it was early November.

This was the cutest store but I restrained myself from buying anything.

It was definitely my kind of store. I think it was called  Cottage  Chic.

So much holiday goodness!  After our visit to North  East we made our way home. It's always good to get back home after a trip!

{Travel} Ocean City, Maryland-Assateague Island-Day 2

I'm sorry if I left you hanging about Part 2 of our Maryland trip, I almost forgot!

 If you don't know what I'm talking about or need to catch up, you can read Part 1, here.

We woke up to bright clear skies in Ocean City. Coffee on the balcony is always a nice treat when you've got this view.

After a quick breakfast at the empty hotel dining room, we took one more walk down to the boardwalk and beach.  We decided we'd check out Assateague Island on the Maryland side because it was only about a 20 minute drive from Ocean City.

Our first stop was the visitor center where we got some information about the park. There was also a trail behind the center where we could view a historic property called Rackliffe House. The trail started with this magical pathway.

We walked through the woods but it was also overlooking this view of the water and a golf course.

We made it to Rackliffe House and had the grounds to ourselves.

Here's a little information about the property.

The herb  garden was looking very healthy!

We walked back to the visitor center on this very pine-y trail.

We then took a quick drive over a bridge and entered the parking lot for Assateague State Park.

We really didn't know if we'd get to see any of the wild ponies but there they were!

These two were right by the parking area.

We saw a few more as we walked toward the beach.

It was a very windy day on the beach so we didn't stay too long.  After our short visit to Assateague we definitely want to return and start on the Virginia  side next time. 

We stopped at the outlets in Rehobeth Beach, Delaware for a little shopping and lunch then picked up coffee at the cutest drive thru coffee spot called Mudslingers.

A pretty perfect weekend!
