{DIY} Recovering The Bar Stools-AGAIN

We recently repainted our island to this pretty color Seacliff Heights and felt like the bar stools needed a refresh as well.

We added the current fabric back in 2014 and you can see that post here.  The hardest part was removing all of the old staples. I used a screwdriver to lift them and needle nose pliers to pull them out.

The process of covering them was the same this time, and I used the old fabric as a pattern for the new fabric.  I bought two yards but could have gotten away with one. We used my dad's very old staple gun (thank you!) to attach the new fabric.

Mr. Click helped me put the chairs back together.

We added new felt pads to the feet.

The new fabric is pretty subtle and has a slight texture to it.

It definitely lightens up the space along with the new island color.

We'll probably change out the stools eventually but for now, they are working well in the space.

I know a certain kitty who is enjoying them!

{DIY} No-Sew Dollar Tree Canvas Bag Pillow

This project is super quick and easy and requires no sewing!

Do you remember this cute canvas bag from my Dollar Tree haul?

I loved it as a bag but I thought it would make an even cuter pillow.

I ironed it and tucked the handles inside in case I want to use it as a bag again. I folded down the top into the bag to make the size pillow that I wanted  and ironed a seam to keep it folded down. I plumped it up with some Poly-fil stuffing and used fusible web (iron on stitching) to close it up.  

I think it looks nice outside on the deck.

But I also love it on my "famous" blue chair.   What do you think?

Quarantine Times - Weeks 7 - 9

I'm losing track of what week we're in but does it really matter? Here's what we've been up to (and eating) lately.

 Sunday brunch has become a weekly tradition at our house and this particular week we had biscuits and gravy. Mr. Click made it all - with two kinds of biscuits and vegan sausage gravy.

 Some nights have been nice enough to sit outside on the deck.

 Dairy Queen has dairy free Dilly Bars!  So good!

 I tried a few new recipes but this was the only one I got a photo of.  

  Sweet Potato and Black Bean Quinoa Bake.

 Mr. Click built me a raised garden bed as an early Mother's Day gift and he and College Girl filled it with veggie plants for me!

I finally got around to hemming my bedroom curtains from this post.  I hemmed them using this No-Sew Technique of mine.

Mother's Day- it was so nice to have both girls home.  My day started with an early morning walk with this guy.

Getting spoiled!

Since it was Sunday, of course we had brunch. This time it was breakfast sammies and hash browns.  Homemade iced coffee from this post too.

My first Negroni cocktail (it's chilly again!).  Inspired by this video.

I did a quick photo shoot with College Girl-I'll share more of that later but if you follow me on Instagram (@heather_ourlife) you've probably seen a sneak peek.

We ended the day with our usual neighborhood walk and they indulged me with a photo.

{DIY} Crocheted Mask Helper (Ear Saver)

Face masks have become part of our daily lives.  We're fortunate that my mother in law made us each some fabric masks but the elastic was really starting to hurt my ears.  I saw some crocheted mask helpers on a website and thought I'd try and make it myself before ordering one.

 I found this tutorial and was happy to find all of the supplies I needed at home.

Supplies:

Yarn

Crochet hook

2 buttons 

Larger needle (not pictured)

 I made the stretchier version. It should measure approximately 1 1/2" x 5". My crochet skills are a little rusty but I think I did ok.

 Add buttons with a large needle and tie off in the back.

 One of the cute masks that my mother in law made us.

This is how the mask hooks onto it from the back.

It can be worn lower or higher on the head depending on where you find it most comfortable.  It takes the burden of the elastic off of your ears. Yay!
