A Different Kind of St. Patrick's Day

This year we had a different kind of St. Patrick's Day.
In past years we've hosted Irish Nights and we were thinking of hosting one this year but obviously that couldn't happen.

I still made Shepherd's Pie (but no green beer!).
Mr. Click tried his hand at Irish Soda Bread and he did a great job!  We had College Girl safely home from Boston and we were so thankful for that.

{Recipe} Broccoli Barley Soup

This soup is made from mostly pantry staples (along with some fresh or frozen broccoli) and would make a great "quarantine" or any time dish.
Shout out to my friend Jessica for this recipe!  This sounded really different from any other soup I had made recently.

My only adjustment was sautéing the garlic and onion in water instead of olive oil.  I also used 6 cups of vegetable stock.

Since I didn't  have crushed tomatoes, I pureed a  can of diced tomatoes.  Remember to cook the barley first. (1 cup dry barley in 2 1/2  cups  water=2 cups cooked barley).
The soup is bursting with flavors and textures!
Make sure to season with salt and pepper!
So warm and comforting!

Early Signs of Spring

I'm trying to look at as many positive things as I can during these uncertain times.
This owl decoy has been a blessing (we now have three!). We had cardinals knocking on multiple windows all day long starting in the fall.  The owls have put a stop to it.
I'm starting to see flowers pop up.
I didn't know I had  daffodils back here.
The mini daffodils are usually the first to bloom.
I always forget what this shrub is called but its white flowers make me  happy.
I hope you're all staying safe and healthy!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! Here's how I'm keeping myself occupied during self isolation.
Pampering myself.  This was such a fun mask because the fabric started to bubble a few minutes after I put it on.
Editing photos. Finding sweet shots to edit and keep me busy and learning.
Getting outside for walks.  Seeing cute doggies adds to the experience!
Playing games.   Mr. Click and I broke the Scrabble last weekend.  More board game playing to come.
Hot tubbing.  Enjoying the nice weather in this baby.  Proper social distancing, of course!

What have you been doing during the quarantine?

{Travel} Boston Visit

This post is bittersweet to write because we just picked our daughter up from Boston but this was a fun trip we took last month to visit her there.
We met her near her office in Seaport for dinner at Pink Taco.

The restaurant had a great vibe and the food  was delish!
We also took her to Trade Joe's in Seaport for a little shopping.
We walked around Seaport,  checking out the sights. It was freezing that weekend!
This is the only photo I took of a person the entire trip! (On the elevator in the  hotel).

Breakfast in the hotel before heading out for our day.
College Girl was working that day so we had time on our own to explore. We'd been wanting to visit the Museum of Fine Arts for awhile and the freezing cold temps made it the perfect activity for us.
I was obsessed with this Frank Gardner Hale jewelry collection.

A few pics from our visit.

This atrium area was so beautiful  (and warm!).  The  Dale Chihuly Lime Green Icicle Tower was stunning.
 This is it up close.

We had a great day in the museum.  There's so much to see, I would definitely go back.
We had lunch at Oath Pizza, their crust is amazing!
I didn't take many photos of  the rest of our trip but it was a really special visit.  Saying goodnight (not goodbye) to Boston for now.

Latest Trader Joe's Finds -St. Patty's Day Edition

Here's what I found on my latest Trader Joe's run.
Blarney Scone bread looks yummy.
I hadn't seen these Habanero Lime Tortillas before.
I'm so glad I finally tried these Cara Cara oranges. They are so good!
Hibiscus Lemongrass Sparkling Beverage sounds refreshing!
I was happy to score this Almond Flour Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix -it's gluten free and vegan. I've heard really good things about it!
I didn't buy this but I  know people are going crazy over  this spice blend.
I'm trying this. I'll let you know how it is.
I love the  TJ's Gyoza dumplings so I'm trying their Gyoza Dipping Sauce. It's tangy and not too sweet.
I was very excited to try the new Vegan Mac. It's creamy and comforting. Some people said it was bland but I think it has good flavor.
One recommendation was to add this Chili Onion Crunch to the Vegan Mac so I had to try that.  It's delicious! This would be so good on crusty bread too.
Perfectly bbq seasoned chips! The ridges make them fun too.
I heard this soup is seasonal so I grabbed a box from the freezer section. Bread in the soup..yes please!
This was new to me too!
Another small lot coffee to try.
I didn't get these but I'm intrigued. Has anyone tried these?
This sounds so good, I'm going to try and make a vegan version.
I like these fruit bars and Mango is a new flavor to try.
TJ's has been upping their gnocchi  game and now there's sweet potato!

These Protein Patties are TJ's  version  of Beyond Meat Burgers. I haven't tried them but I'm curious to hear what others think about them.
