Friday Phone Dump-Weeks 42 & 43

We are hunkering down for "Frankenstorm" and trying to be as prepared as we can be.

 They've already closed our schools for the next two days. Yikes!

{Tips & Tricks} Adding Text to Instagram Photos

 Sometimes you want to add text to your Instagram photos without it being in the comments.

To accomplish this, I've been experimenting with a few aps and found two that I really like.

The first is called Labelbox.

It's a free ap on Itunes and simple to use.

This is the screen for adding labels to a photo.

Once you've chose a photo(either by snapping one or grabbing one from your camera roll), it's time for the fun part.

 You get to pick out a tape for your label. Then just swipe your finger across the screen and the label appears, ready for you to input your text. If you don't like that label, just hold your finger down on it and it disappears.   You can add multiple labels to your photo and if you want to start all over again, 

shake your phone to clear them all.

When you're happy with your label you can save and share your photo.

It's a lot of fun to play around with.

The other ap that I've tried is called Phonto

It's another freebie from Itunes.

It has over 200 fonts to choose from and it's very addictive!  You just choose or take your photo and start adding text.

There are lots of fun things you can do with your photos and text.

I chose the Codystar font for this photo.  It's easy to change the font, color, size, style and background of your text.    When you're done, you can save or share your photo.

The possibilities are endless!

I'm fairly new to Instagram and definitely new to the Iphone so if you have any other fun aps please let me know!

Quick Change Artist-Our Front Door

Our front door went from this....

to this...

I wish I could show you exactly how it looks but that's probably not a great idea so I'll show you my inspiration.

I ordered vinyl house numbers from this etsy seller and the above photo is from their site.

They really stand out on our door and I love how they pop and look hand painted.

For $8, that's alotta bang for your buck.

Wordless(ish) Wednesday-WOYWW

This photo seemed perfect for Wordless Wednesday and happens to coincide with WOYWW(What's On Your Work desk Wednesday) as well.

I'm back on the scrap booking wagon and working on Teen 2's school album.

 I'm up to 5th grade, that's pretty good, right?  

I'm only two years behind.  

That's not as bad as it sounds because I only do a few pages for each school year.

Fall Bucket List-Apple Picking

Apple picking is always on my Fall Bucket List.

 This year we went a little early, I talked about it here a bit.

The tractor pulled wagon is part of the fun.

I had my two helpers with me.

 

My job is to take pictures...if not, we'd end up with WAY too many apples.

 

We picked Jonagold and Melrose.

 So juicy and good!

 She's growing up so fast.

 She knows I like some photos with the leaves on.

 The farm and the garden are always spectacular.

 We didn't get our pumpkins here but they sure were pretty.

 I loved the dried hydrangea window boxes.

 Wooden crates full of apples.

 We didn't pick quite this many.

I also love barns.

The texture is great for photos.

The trees were just starting to change.

 I bet they are even prettier now.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday 10.21.12

It's another Scavenger Hunt Sunday-College Edition!

We were away, visiting our daughter for Family Weekend this past weekend and I snapped all of the photos while we were there.

Pink or Orange

I'm wearing pink and there was a lot of orange in the trees.

Faceless Portrait

 Way up high in a tower, there's my family looking out below.  You have to climb up a lot of steps to get there, but the view is so worth it!

From the Top

Didn't I say it was worth it? This is just one of the views from the top of the tower.

Cozy

I was cozy, walking through campus, in my new sparkly TOMS.

Stacked

Stopping at a winery on the way home, the wine barrels were all stacked along the metal frame.

Spooking it up a bit

 I got into the Halloween spirit and spooked it up a bit over here.

The mantel got a mini makeover with ominous chalkboard bottles and the addition of the composer busts (that remind me of The Haunted Mansion).  

The little wooden "Boo" wasn't standing out enough so I took my black Sharpie to it.

Some black birds and a bouquet of black roses and spiders (from Dollar Tree) also intensify the creep factor.  I got the Edgar Allen Poe book at a thrift store a few years ago.  Most of the pieces on my mantel are from thrift stores.

 This unfriendly fellow has been with us for awhile. Sometimes he's out on the front porch rocker to scare people away but I brought him in for a special assignment.  The Scrabble tiles spell it out for those who come too close.

The chilling vampire silhouette in the mirror is by Martha (from Michaels-a few years back).

 So my previously, mostly creamy mantel went from this....

 to this...(creamy to creepy, eh?)

I also creepified our hallway benches in the den.   Empty black thrift store frames (one had been on the mantel) now have spiders hanging from them and draw your eye up.

I added in all our black or creepy-ish decorations that I could find.

 This "K" bucket was on clearance at Michael's and I can use it year round.  

A little sparkle from the glittery skull and silver vases add some light and reflection to the vignette. Do you see the hands under the pumpkins?

They are skeleton hands, sold by the bag, you never know where they'll turn up.

So are you scared yet?

This is about as sinister as it gets around here.  It's fun to mix it up a little and show our darker side.

My blog header even got a little Halloween arachnid addition.
