4th of July Weekend '26

I started my 4th of July weekend by picking up City Girl #2 at the ferry.

It's always a beautiful view while we're waiting.

We got to go to local fireworks on the beach for the first time.

We didn't know what to expect but the town put on a great show.

So fun!

This little cutie (Toki) was visiting as well.

Summer bucket list item: S'mores by the pool!

We hadn't been to our old hometown's parade in a few years and it was so fun to experience it again.

My mother in law always puts out a nice spread and we all contribute something too.  It's early-ish morning so coffee and breakfast are first.

It was a HOT one this year so many of the participants welcomed a spray of water.

We ended the day with a barbecue before heading back to the beach.

We got in lots of pool time and some beach walks.

I made my 2 Ingredient Cobbler (smaller version) with frozen mango and Trader Joe's sugar cookies.  

We also had a pool day with this cutie and her parents.

A Rainy Memorial Day Weekend at The Beach

 This was the rainiest Memorial Day weekend that I can remember.   We couldn't go in the pool or to the beach so here's what we did.

City Girl #2 came home for the weekend and we did some new head shots for her. I was rusty and hadn't shot with my new softbox umbrella beauty dish so it took my awhile to set up.  We got some good ones and I'll post them soon.

We took her to our favorite local French restaurant. They were having a Spritz and DJ set so of course we tried their Aperole Spritzes.

We drove her back to Brooklyn on Sunday since "Sunday Funday" was cancelled.

Mr. Click and I checked out a local brewery's tasting room.

We tried to go to the movies on Monday but of course everything was sold out.  We had a lazy day at home and took a walk at the beach that evening. Of course the skies were beautiful by then!

Mother's Day Weekend 2026

Mother's Day feels so long ago but it was only last weekend.

I started with a much needed pedicure during the week.

I discovered this naughty (but extremely cute) groundhog helping herself to my cilantro, lettuce and zucchini plants.   RIP veggie garden.

City Girl #2 came home on Saturday and attended Mr. Click's gig at Porchfest.  It was fun, despite the rainy weather.

It cleared up and we walked on the boardwalk after dinner.  There was a peek of a rainbow but I can't see it in this photo.

On Sunday, City Girl #1 came in on the train. We all went out for coffee at a local spot.  I had mint tea.

We went out for brunch at a boardwalk restaurant.

I ordered something different and got the cinnamon crunch French toast. We ordered a few appetizers too.

It was so foggy but also sunny on the boardwalk.

We stopped at the trinket swap so I could show the girls.  We left a trinket and got a sticker.

After brunch the girls and I went to a cat lounge to visit with adoptable kitties.

I think there were 17 kitties and they were so cute.

Some were very sleepy

but we got to interact with some playful babies too!

Scenes From Our Christmas 2025

Here's a look back at our Christmas...

I made a new treat--Cookie Butter Truffles.  I made two different versions, one dipped in white chocolate made out of cookie butter, butter and powdered sugar.

One made out of crushed Biscoff cookies, cookie butter and cream cheese dipped in chocolate.  We all liked the white chocolate variety better but both were good!

CG #2 came home a few days early (Sunday) and was home in time to Santa riding through the neighborhood on a fire truck (a screen grab I took from a video).

She and Mr. Click made our annual Christmas Morning Cranberry Cheese Bread and I was there to assist and clean as they went.

I got a few mugs from Ebay to add to our collection (and replace one that broke).

Our holiday cards were very last minute and I was addressing and sending them out on the 22nd (Monday).

On Tuesday (23rd) I made Easy Peppermint Bark Cheesecake for Christmas Eve dinner.  The hardest part was chopping up the peppermint bark!  I don't have a springform pan anymore so I made it in a square dish.

On Wednesday (12/24) we got ready to host my family for Christmas Eve. Mr. Click picked up the pizzas in town.

I snapped a quick pic before everyone got there.

We set up a bar on the ironing board covered with a table cloth. It worked!

I made a big batch of roasted veggies. My sister brought an amazing salad.  

We served red and green chips with salsa and Chex Mix (homemade of course!) for simple appetizers.

I made Freezer Door Dirty Martinis and she made Whiskey Sours (using my new martini glasses).

After dinner we played some games. This one was a new with prizes in the cups and we had to get a ping pong ball into the cup to get the prizes. It was harder than it looked. We also played Catch Phrase & Hitster.  I had some new Jackbox games but we didn't get to them.  

Later that night we watched A Christmas Story (our tradition).

We started a new tradition this year to go out to dinner on Christmas night.  We decided on Mexican food and loved it!  Frozen margaritas, chips and salsa...no cooking or cleaning up...

Yes, please!

It was a hit!

The next day (Friday 12/26) we visited our good friends and this was their gorgeous tree.

On Saturday (12/27) we got together with Mr. Click's family at his brother's house.  

We recreated this photo.  We swapped out our nephew in the red polo on the right for our niece who wasn't born yet.
