We went away for our 27th anniversary....
and look where we stayed. Nah...this wasn't the place but I snapped a pic on our way because it was sad how badly it had decayed from neglect. Look all of those arched windows! Somebody needs to rescue it!
We headed out in the morning ready to hit the beaches of Delaware. Ummmm...not the nicest beach weather on the way down, was it?

When we arrived in Bethany Beach, Delaware at our hotel the skies were clearing up a little but it was still drizzling.
We stayed at the Bethany Beach Ocean Suites Residence Inn.

The best part was that it was right on the beach!
We checked in and immediately checked out our room.
This compact and stylish kitchen had everything we needed (and then some).
I was swooning over the Caribbean blue glass tile backsplash.
The room was decorated in soothing blues and fresh crisp white.
I always say that there are never enough hooks at hotels but not this place! They are especially handy when staying at a beach location.
We had a cute little balcony with Adirondack chairs and a table.
Even though it was still misty and overcast we wanted to see the beach and get our toes in the sand.

here. We explored the boardwalk and had lunch at
Mango's overlooking the ocean.
After lunch we went to the hotel pool. It was indoor/outdoor and the retractable roof was closed so we could enjoy the pool even on a rainy day. I was hoping for poolside bar service....
and my wish was granted. Thanks to the hubs heading down to the bar for a bottle of vino for us.

So NOW the sun comes out!
We strolled around a little on our way to dinner and while we were waiting for our table.
We had dinner at
14 Global, a tapas and small plates kind of place.
Dinner was excellent as was my Sauvignon Blanc.
We explored the boardwalk after dinner, checking out the shops and ice cream spots.
There was also a bonfire on the beach for everyone to enjoy. Marshmallows and sticks too!
Back at the hotel.
The next morning we woke up to gorgeous blue skies and lots of sunshine.
We decided to stay and enjoy the beach after we checked out of the hotel.
My lunch was this delicious acai smoothie bowl. Perfect beach food if you ask me.
We were contemplating staying another night in town over half priced drinks and appetizers at the bar.
You can tell we were really dragging our feet.
We had plans to hit the outlets in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware on our way home and that's what we decided to do. After some quick but efficient shopping we stopped for dinner and got this amazing sunset view. Wow!! Dinner was great and we were ready to go home, well sort of.
