{Shopping} Turn7 Discount Store

In my last post, Things TikTok Made Me Try, I promised I'd elaborate more on the store Turn7.

There are currently three locations, all in the Philadelphia area.  The concept of the store is to turn all of the inventory in 7 days so they offer  extremely steep discounts.
All of the items are new--either overstocks or returns from major retailers like Target, Costco, Stitch Fix and Amazon.  It is truly a treasure hunt.   Some of the bins are really deep and you have to dig!
They have everything from home goods, furniture, toys and clothing.
It is overwhelming!

Some parts of the store are a mess and look like they've been bombed.  We were there on a Sunday when it had been pretty picked over.
*Shopping tip* Go on Friday mornings for the best selection.
I picked up a few things on our trip.  Some of the $3 items rang up as 2 for $5.
I also got some Wild Fable leggings, a Joy Lab sports bra, pj shorts and two Universal Thread tops.  I got everything for $37.  Score!! It's definitely worth a trip if you're in the area.

Things TikTok Made Me Try

Some days I waste way too much time watching Tiktok videos but then I go for days when I never think to look at it.  It's all about balance. :)   I've definitely found some new ideas and things to try while watching. Here are a few...
This anti-inflammatory spa water.  I've made this a few times and give it a thumbs up!
This is the basic recipe, you're supposed to strain it but I didn't the first time and then when I made it again, it didn't strain very well so it didn't make much of a difference for the extra work.
This drink went viral for awhile..balsamic vinegar + seltzer water = "coke" drink. It sounds disgusting I know. I tried and it wasn't bad but it does not taste like any kind of cola.

I haven't found these pants yet but there are Target sweatpants that supposedly look like the Old Navy pixie pant--at a cheaper price and more comfy style.

This was probably my first "Tiktok made me buy it" purchase. My daughter sent me a video of this game and it looked like a lot of fun.  We've played it often and most ages can join in. It's easy to explain and pick right up so it's perfect for a group.
Do you see this fancy pedestal dish? It's actually a Tiktok inspired DIY.  You pick up the (plastic) plate and bowl at Target for $0.50-$1.00 a piece and glue them together with E6000 or hot glue. Viola! Chic, functional decor!  I've used it for fruit in the kitchen too.
This was a Philly Tiktok for the store Turn7.  I had to check it out and I'll do a full post on it later (lots of Target finds for less!).

I've also tried a few recipes like air fried radishes and a simple corn and orzo pasta. Both delish! I will have to get better at photographing my re-creations. This is fun!

Summer TJ's Haul

Here are some things I found at Trader Joe's recently.

1)Peanut Butter Protein Granola-Delish on yogurt!
2)Organic Sugar Cones-when you want to make your own ice cream cone. I'm challenging myself to come up with some other ways to use them too.
3)Vegan Caramelized Onion Dip-(new!) Cream cheese like spread/dip with tasty caramelized onions...really good on The Everything Bagel Seasoning Bite Sized Crackers (below).
4)Non Dairy Oat Brown Sugar Creamer(new-ish)-I've seen this a few times and finally tried it.  It's a little sweet so a little goes a long way. I want to try it on oatmeal.

5)Summer Jersey Blueberries--can't get much better than this!

6) Coconut Whipped Cream- it's a staple at our house.

We made these "short cakes" over 4th of July with the berries (used frozen puffed pastry, coconut whipped cream and fresh berries).

7)We tried the Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc on a recommendation. It was pretty good!
8) Organic Jalapeno Limeade (seasonal)-I got this to make easy, spicy margaritas but haven't made any yet.
9)The internet went crazy over this new Daily Facial Sunscreen(new!)it's supposed to be a dupe for Super Goop's Unseen Sunscreen. I use Super Goop's Glow Screen but hadn't tried the Unseen Version to compare. I've tried it out and it goes on a little greasy feeling but that goes away.
10) Watermelon Overnight Face Mask (seasonal)-they had me at overnight and face mask. It goes on after the final nighttime skin care. It's very cool and refreshing.
11)Vegan Pad Thai in the frozen section looked good to me. I haven't tried it yet but I'm pretty sure I'll like it
12)Vegan Cream Cheese Alternative-this is a good vegan cream cheese at a good price point
13) Out Of This World Ice Pops (new!)-so fun for summer. Just like a rocket pop!
14) Vegan Feta Cheese Alternative- this is SO good, I've served it to non-vegans who love it too.
15)Organic Brown Rice Cake Thins-these are great for spreading peanut butter or chickpea tuna on.
16)Thai Sweet Ginger Sauce (new!)-I've tried this on rice and veggies. Very good!
17)Everything But The Bagel Seasoned Bite Sized Crackers-I love these little cracker, they are pretty much perfect!
18) Whole Wheat English Muffins-I think these were new to me. Very solid English muffins.

{Review} Naked Shake

No, it's not a new dance, it's a vegan protein shake!  Naked Nutrition reached out to me to try Naked Shake, their vegan protein shake product.  I'm picky about protein powders and don't usually like them if they are chalky or fake tasting but I said I'd give them a try.
I received Vanilla and the new Lemon Blueberry flavors.  I mixed them both up with water first for a true test of the flavors.  I was pleasantly surprised by them.  Naked Shake is pea protein, with MCT oil and natural plant based flavors added in.  Each serving contains 20 grams of protein and only 5 grams of sugar.
When City Girl 2 was home, she mixed up some protein energy balls with the powders as well.  They are great on the go snacks.
I made a Lemon Blueberry shake with some soy milk and blueberries. Yum!
We also made some protein muffins with the Lemon Blueberry Naked Shake, they aren't the prettiest but were tasty and another way to add more protein to our day. Which flavor would you want to try?

{Field Trip} Elfreth's Alley & Walk Around Philly

I had to pick up some photo equipment in Philly and we decided to take a walk around the neighborhood since it's not one we usually get to visit.
We ran right into Elfreth's Alley and I don't think I'd ever walked down it before. It's the nation's oldest continuously inhabited residential street. How's that for a mouthful?
It's super quaint and charming.
People really live here and the homes are quite in demand.
A couple times a year they open their homes to the public. I need to do that one of these days.  There's a little museum as well but we didn't go in.
We passed this pretty kitty at a local bookstore.
We also stopped in at Franklin Fountain. How cute is this place? They had some vegan ice cream flavors and I tried the Hydrox --do you know what that is??  Comment, if you do (or don't)!

Disclaimer: I was given a Daily Goodie Box to review, all opinions are mine.

July's Daily Goodie Box is here. Let's see what's inside this month!

This wellness drink is a refreshing mix of vine ripened berries and natural flavors to give you a "moment of calm" in this busy world.

I already dug into this nut medley and it was delicious with the perfect amount for a single serving snack.
It can be hard to find products that are both keto and vegan friendly like these Hungry Buddah Bars.  The chocolate chip is calling my name!

Graduation Week

I've been putting off this post because I have so many photos and so few words but here goes!   We spent a week in Boston celebrating College Girl back in May.
We drove up and went straight to her first ceremony for her individual college.
Celebrating her first graduation of the week!  We actually got to hear her name and see her walk across the stage to accept her diploma.

We hit up the hospitality hub after the ceremony with the other families.  There were tasty refreshments and lots of fun photo ops.
Walking home with our grad.  I had to get some of those beautiful flowering trees in the shot.
We changed into comfy clothes and met up with her for dinner in our hotel.
We got up early and went on campus to take some of her graduation photos.
We walked around campus, finding all of the prime photo spots.
More pretty flowers!
Heading to a reception for her major.
Stopping at the hub for more photos.
We had brunch at Tatte one day.
Took selfies in a restaurant bathroom mirror.
We had dinner in Seaport when City Girl got into town.
Dinner at Lolita.  Always a treat!
The whole class graduation was held at Fenway Park.
Proud parents!

Waiting for the graduates to file in. I was pretty impressed that my toenails matched my dress so well.

Here they come!
At one point in the ceremony we all flipped over cards on our seats to send this message to the grads. It was so cool. (*not my photo)
A family photo before heading to dinner and home the next day. What a bittersweet and whirlwind of a week!
