More Holiday Fun-Christmas In Philly & Seaside Holiday Home Tour

We wanted to get in as many holiday activities as we could this year and we had a jam packed week of them.

It started with our annual trip into Philly. We first went to Macy's for their holiday light show. It's become a tradition for us.

Then we toured Macy's Dickens Village.

After that we headed over to the Christmas Villages.

I love seeing the ice skaters!

We picked a good day that wasn't too busy.

We wanted to go somewhere festive for lunch and McGillin's Old Ale House was perfect!

It's also the oldest operating pub in Philadelphia.

We walked around some more and then stopped for some coffee at Elixr.

Our next stop was the Comcast Building for their amazing light show. This was our first time seeing it.

Outside was a hot chocolate bar, dj and some cool ice sculptures.

We made a quick reservation to ride the Universal Sphere. It's a free and immersive experience in the other Comcast building. The ride is kind of like Soarin' in Disney with a very cute Shrek theme. It was also our first time on the ride. That ended a fun and festive day in Philly!

The festive fun didn't end there though. We also took a holiday home tour.

We had tickets for the historic holiday home tour in Ocean Grove, New Jersey.

I was especially interested in the tents from the tent community that gets set up every summer. You can read about it here.

The town has so many historic homes and it was fun to get a peek inside some of them.

We also got to tour a few of the town's inns and bed & breakfasts.

Some of them had amazing views of the ocean.

This was a girlie apartment done up in pinks and sparkles.

There were a few lines to wait in when only a few people could tour at a time. It was a self guided tour and we really enjoyed it!

We caught the end of the holiday bazaar at the Asbury Hotel one night. This is where I found my new tree skirt.

It was such a cool place to hang out in the lobby and look at the decorations.

{Travel} Another Quick NYC Visit with Some Holiday Fun!

We met up with City Girl #2 in NYC for an appointment one morning in November and then had a day to sightsee around the city while she was at work.

We dropped our bags off at our hotel and then headed to Bryant Park.

The Christmas Village was not crowded at all. I'm so glad we got to experience it before the huge crowds.

Bryant Park always looks so lovely.

We stopped by the skating rink and then looked for a place to get lunch.

We chose AKB Hotel Bar in the Archer Hotel after checking out a few menus and places online.

I enjoyed this delicious salmon. It was cooked to perfection!

After lunch we wanted to do some more exploring and walked over to Rockefeller Plaza. This is another stunning tree we saw along the way.

It's always fun to see the iconic Radio City Music Hall.

The famous tree was not unveiled yet but you could see them working on it all around the sides on huge scaffolding. Another ice rink!

After that we walked over to Grand Central Station which is always so beautiful.

They had a holiday market too! We stopped at a cafe for some coffee and to wait for our room to be ready then went back to the hotel.

We met up with our daughter at The Ragtrader for dinner. It was a nice meal but I didn't get any photos. (Also City Girl #1 was busy so she couldn't join us).

We had tickets to see The Hills of California at The Broadhust Theatre.

It's always bustling outside the theatres!

Look at us seeing another play (two in two months)!. We're more likely to see a musical but we've been enjoying plays as well. This one was really good!

Heading out for a little more exploring.

We went to see the gorgeous Plaza Hotel. It was so stunningly decorated.

There's a shop where you can buy a replica of the hat Kevin McAllister wore in Home Alone 2-Lost In New York. There's also a little section about Eloise.

The lobby was simply captivating!

The restaurant is gorgeous!

After that we headed to Muji again, we had been there day before and I wanted to go back. I love Muji! I did some shopping and found some really cool items.

We stopped here for lunch and had a nice break from all of the walking we'd been doing.

We stopped at Macy's Herald Square on our walk back to Penn Station. They had an indoor Christmas Village Market too!

The windows were also still covered as it was right before Thanksgiving but the store still looked incredibly festive!

{The Abode} Holiday Tour of Our New Home

I promised in my last post that I'd share a holiday tour of our new home and here it is!

It's a doozy so grab a cup of cocoa and settle in! We moved into our home in February so this is our first Christmas at the new place.

It felt like Christmas as we were opening up our crates and storage bags to see what we actually brought with us. We downsized so I had to really narrow down what to keep. Here's a peek into our entry and you can see both of our trees on the main floor reflected in the mirror.

This is a new tree and I love it so much. I didn't add ornaments. I just love the twinkling lights and the lifelike cedar branches. It's a 7.5 foot My Texas House tree from Walmart that I found back in October.

I just found this tree skirt at a local holiday bazaar. It is perfect for this tree and doesn't take up much floor space which is at a premium.

We have an electric fireplace in here that used to be in our primary bedroom. It holds a few decorations on it's shelves.

I was so thrilled to see that I kept my Christmas village! They fit nicely on the fireplace mantle. I also have some handmade sculptures by our daughters standing watch over the village.

Standing at the fireplace and looking back into the room. We got a new sofa back in September! I never got around to doing a post about it but here it is. I love adding festive pillows and pillow covers. I also added in our throw from World Market.

Here's a photo of the old sofa that used to be in our living room at the old house. It was a PB Basic Pottery Barn sofa and it looked pretty but wasn't very comfortable anymore. We missed our sectional and now we have one again. The new sofa is modular so we can move the pieces around in different formations.

Miss Willow sure loves it!

Moving into the dining area which is where we have our main tree.

This was before the kids decorated it for us. We had to get new lights this year and I also got some little battery operated candles that I really love.

A bit of our Christmas wrapping and our Christmas china on the hutch. Since we no longer have a china cabinet, I bought some plate stands to display our china on the open shelves. It's working perfectly.

Into the kitchen we go, do I need to refill your cocoa? This is the first time I've had an open soffit above my cabinets and it just needed some decoration. On the right hand side I already had some baskets so I just added some fairy lights and continud them across the window on a garland. I used a tension rod to hold the garland and added my traditional Ikea gingerbread cookies.

Above the microwave we added some Target holiday houses. They are so cute!

Here's a daytime look at the kitchen. We had a little garland accident one night and I lost most of the cookies but they were up for awhile.

Moving into our family room....this is where we put our Disney tree that is full of ornaments and memories from our many Disney trips over the years. More Disney trips here and our Christmas at Disneyland Paris here.

We added a gas insert to this fireplace and this is where we hang our stockings. I added another garland and lights to the mantle.

A view of the other side of the room. We found a good place to hang our Disney Christmas plates and our Merry Christmas banner. I've also added in some more holiday pillows and a checkered throw.

This is a Dollar Tree sign that I wrapped in mini colored lights. It's on our second bathroom door.

I did a bit of decorating in here...;.

...with some pastel pinks and some gnome artwork.

The primary bedroom got a new little tree (another My Texas Home one). We put some cozy checkered flannel sheets on the bed and added some holiday pillow covers to existing pillows.

I like to hang the stocking that my grandmother made for me over the bed. In the corner we have our "believe" pillow and a winter scarf over my favorite thrifted chair from 2014. 10 points if you've been with me that long and can remember this chair!

We don't usually decorate the new main bath but I picked up this little tree at Target that just goes with the vibe in there.

Here's the guest room where we have our winter white tree. We already had the reindeer blanket, pillows and reindeer pillow cover for this bed.

We used to have this tree in our living room at the old house. I consolidated our ornaments and it now has a wintry, silver and blue theme now. I thought the Anthropologie bag matched our decor in here as well as the faux sheepskin that is usually on the sofa (now a bed).

Mr. Click's office got a little plaid throw and some holiday pillow covers as well.

Finally (are you still with me?) is our little set up outside. We had the little chalet and the tree farm sign and just added outdoor plaid pillow covers and a planter from Costco. Phew....that was a long one! Thanks for coming along on our tour!
