{Photography} Springtime Photo Shoot

I got to do a quick photo shoot of College Girl on Mother's Day.
It felt so good to get behind the camera again!
I've really missed photography and cannot wait to get back to my clients!
I had so much fun editing these shots.
She was a good sport.  I'm a little rusty!
I need to keep my skills up so I'm hoping for more 'family models' in the near future.

New (to me) Food Finds

I really miss my Trader Joe's trips (and even Target) but I've still managed to find some new (to me) food finds.
We picked these Grillo's  Pickles up at Costco and went right through them. This is our second bucket.  If you like dill pickles, these are for you!
This creamer was new to me. I was trying to froth it up (spoiler alert-it did not froth well but is still good).
A new kimchi to try.  Spicy!
I think these are based on the açai bowls that Costo sells in the food court. They are pretty close to that. They comes with toppings too!
I'm not always a fan of cauliflower snacks but I actually really like these tortilla chips! So good dipped in queso or Mr. Click's corn salsa!
Mr. Click has switched to this oat milk from half and half.  We get it from Amazon and it froths amazingly well!
Another Costco find--they are good but I think I should have let them cook a little longer than suggested to get more crispy. I bet they'd be great in an air fryer.
This hot sauce has a smoky taste and it's not overwhelming spicy.
I know these aren't new but we've rediscovered them and get the big box at Costco.   I love the mango flavor!

A Few New Things from LOFT

I did a little online shopping recently and here's what I got (all from LOFT). Getting some new pieces definitely brightened my day and wardrobe.
This top is so pretty and feminine. The front of the blouse is silky and the back is a soft knit.
This cute jumpsuit feels like your wearing pajamas. So soft!
Do I need another black top, obviously I do!
And another one!

Have you treated yourself to any online shopping lately?

Quarantine Times - Weeks 7 - 9

I'm losing track of what week we're in but does it really matter? Here's what we've been up to (and eating) lately.
Sunday brunch has become a weekly tradition at our house and this particular week we had biscuits and gravy. Mr. Click made it all - with two kinds of biscuits and vegan sausage gravy.
Some nights have been nice enough to sit outside on the deck.
Dairy Queen has dairy free Dilly Bars!  So good!
I tried a few new recipes but this was the only one I got a photo of.
Mr. Click built me a raised garden bed as an early Mother's Day gift and he and College Girl filled it with veggie plants for me!
I finally got around to hemming my bedroom curtains from this post.  I hemmed them using this No-Sew Technique of mine.

Mother's Day- it was so nice to have both girls home.  My day started with an early morning walk with this guy.
Getting spoiled!
Since it was Sunday, of course we had brunch. This time it was breakfast sammies and hash browns.  Homemade iced coffee from this post too.
My first Negroni cocktail (it's chilly again!).  Inspired by this video.

I did a quick photo shoot with College Girl-I'll share more of that later but if you follow me on Instagram (@heather_ourlife) you've probably seen a sneak peek.
We ended the day with our usual neighborhood walk and they indulged me with a photo.
What have you been up to?

{DIY} Crocheted Mask Helper (Ear Saver)

Face masks have become part of our daily lives.  We're fortunate that my mother in law made us each some fabric masks but the elastic was really starting to hurt my ears.  I saw some crocheted mask helpers on a website and thought I'd try and make it myself before ordering one.
I found this tutorial and was happy to find all of the supplies I needed at home.
Supplies:
Yarn
Crochet hook
2 buttons
Larger needle (not pictured)
I made the stretchier version. It should measure approximately 1 1/2" x 5". My crochet skills are a little rusty but I think I did ok.
Add buttons with a large needle and tie off in the back.
 The finished 'helper'.
One of the cute masks that my mother in law made us.
This is how the mask hooks onto it from the back.
It can be worn lower or higher on the head depending on where you find it most comfortable.  It takes the burden of the elastic off of your ears. Yay!

Sparkly Clean Dishwasher

Who knew I would be so excited about a sparkly clean dishwasher but quarantine can do that to a person.
I was inspired by this video.
Follow along to see how she cleaned out the dishwasher filter first. I didn't get any pictures of mine but trust me, it was gross!
I recorded the next steps.  Sprinkle baking soda on the bottom of an empty dishwasher.   Fill a cup with white vinegar and place it in the dishwasher. Run a rinse cycle (I don't have a rinse cycle so I did the quickest one I had).
*Why not clean the coffee maker while you're at it?* That's what I did.
After the dishwasher is done, remove the cup and see how shiny it looks.
Wipe down the out sides of the dishwasher(where I forget to clean sometimes!).
If you have a stainless steel dishwasher, I highly recommend these wipes from Weiman for cleaning and polishing the front.

Bask in the shiny reflection!  Wow, I really need to get out of the house. How are you making out?

Dalgona Coffee

This fancy Korean coffee drink has been sweeping the internet lately and it seems like everyone and their sister (including mine) has tried it.
If you haven't heard of it, dalgona coffee is milk topped with whipped coffee.  I had to try it myself and only needed to get some instant coffee to make it.
Ingredients:
2 TBS instant coffee
2 TBS sugar (I used 1 TBS sugar and 1 packet of Zing sweetener)
2 TBS hot water
Milk of your choice (I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk)
Ice
To make:
  • Combine instant coffee and sugar in a large bowl

  • Add hot water (I used boiling).

  • Stir to combine and dissolve the sugar.

  • Now comes the fun part! Use a hand mixer to start whipping up the coffee mixture.  (You can do this by hand with whisk but it will take a lot longer and more arm strength!)

  • Keep whipping the mixture. It will lighten up and start to get fluffy.

  • You will know it's ready when you've got stiff peaks.

  • Add ice and your favorite milk to a glass.   You could also make this hot by warming your milk and adding to a mug.

  • Scoop the whipped coffee on top of the milk.

  • Pop in a straw and enjoy!  It looks pretty like this but mix it up to get the flavors incorporated.  It's got a kick to it from the caffeine.  Have you tried it yet?
