{Travel} Birthday Weekend in NYC

 Hey, it's been awhile since I last posted. We took a quick trip last week and I'm finally catching up.  Last month we celebrated City Girl 2's birthday in NYC.

Getting off the train and walking to our hotel.  There's always some excitement in the air!

We met up with the crew to start celebrating.  

We tried a new place called Peachy Keen in the Times Square area. (I found it on TikTok). They have a retro vibe with fun cocktails.

Our order got messed up a few times but the restaurant took care of us and also brought out this birthday cake shake on the house.

After dinner we headed over to the Lyceum theatre.

I hadn't been to a show in so long and it's always fun seeing live theatre.

The show was so good! I'm always blown away by the talent!

The next morning we were up bright and early and brunch wasn't until noon-ish.

We went for a walk. I like when the city is a little quieter in the mornings.

We stopped for some cappuccinos....

....and took a spin around Times Square.  We checked out of our hotel and headed to Brooklyn.

What a beautiful morning!  We were meeting at Gertie's for brunch with the gang.

The restaurant is adorable and the food was SO good! Get the latkes!

Friday Favorites

Phew, it's been a busy couple of weeks!!  Here are some of my favorites from the past few.

City Girl 2 came home for a night to go to her boyfriend's show. We channeled our inner Olivia Newton Johns for the gig. 

I had my class reunion the next night. So fun! I've known the girls to my left in the second photo since middle school and they were both in my wedding!

I also had an engagement photo shoot the same day as the reunion. It was a beautiful day for it.

We went to the mall and out for Mexican food that Sunday.

I've been taking lots of walks and loving the warm, fall days!

I got a much needed hair cut!

We did a super last minute Halloween costume. Chucky and Bride of Chucky. 

We went to Harvest Fest again this year and got some vegan loaded tots.

We roasted pumpkin seeds on Halloween night and I used Tony's Cajun seasoning. They were so good!

We voted early and went out to a new (to us) lunch spot in town. Yum.

I had a few mums popping up in the garden.

I got my first holiday Starbucks drink.

I organized our spices. I'm still working on it but I think I love it.

I've had this book on hold for months and it finally came in (TikTok recommendation). I thoroughly enjoyed it and it's more of a modern romance.

I saw this on Jenna Fisher's reel. It's so cute!! Call that number to hear words of encouragement from kindergartners.   You will smile!

Annnndddd... Wawa had Free Coffee Tuesday this week and I got my first holiday cup from there as well.

Trader Joe's Haul-Early Holiday Edition

I'm back with another little TJ's haul.  I'm starting to see some holiday items and of course if you see them, you should get them now or they could be gone the next time you shop.

I heard a few people singing the praises of these Unscented Pillar Candles so I gave them a try. They do burn beautifully and are dripless, smokeless, go with any decor  and have an 80 hour burn time. What a deal!  I love their felted wool items and this Felted Wool Trivet is so cute. 

Ok, I purchased this quickly thinking it was pumpkin chocolate chunk cookie oatmeal when it's actually Pumpkin Chocolate Chunk Oatmeal Cookie Mix! We'll make them for Thanksgiving.

I wish I had bought a couple of boxes of this Spanish Style Rice. It is SO good! It's perfectly seasoned and not spicy. 

Onto beverages--the 100% Red Tart Cherry Juice is one I've seen but never tried. It's got a good tart kick and I read that it has lots of health benefit. This GTS ALIVE Ancient Mushroom Elixir caught my eye. It says Root Beer on the label and it actually tastes like a (less sweet) root beer. 

The Turkeyless Ground made a great "turkey meatloaf" the other night. I'm impressed. The Vegan Salmon-esque Spread sounded a little strange so I had to try it! It's very good on crackers and has a  slightly smokey taste.  I hadn't bought the High Protein Organic Tofu in awhile. I like that I don't need to press it before marinating and roasting. I added some to a protein pasta salad I made yesterday. Yum!

Anniversary Weekend: {Sting at Wolftrap & Brooklyn Brunch}

 It was sad to come home from our trip to Mexico but luckily we had some fun things planned the following weekend.

Not only was it Labor Day weekend, it was also our anniversary (33 years!)! We kicked it off with an anniversary lunch in New Hope.

We love to walk over the bridge to Lambertville, New Jersey when we're in New Hope. For our walk,  I tried this Starbucks Apple Crisp Oat Milk Macchiato. It was just ok and I probably wouldn't order it again.  Have you tried it?

That night Mr. Click's band was recording a promo video. We got there early so he could set up and I took a walk in the lovely neighborhood. Look at these cuties!

It was kind of a little party/band concert and we had a really good time with everybody.

The next morning we were off to....Virginia! What? We had to stop for some Sheetz coffee along the way.

We were going to see STING in concert at Wolftrap in Virginia. We had tickets to see him in May in Philly but our extended graduation plans made us sell them. It was awesome to still be able to see him.

It was our first time at Wolftrap and we loved it.

We couldn't believe all the things you could bring into a show like coolers, alcohol, food, blankets and chairs. We had seats but sitting out on the grass looked like fun too.

We didn't know what to expect and got there early for the show. We had some time before we could get to our seats so we tried some beers and got some snacks. The weather was perfect for an outdoor show.

Sting's son, Joe Sumner opened the show and then The Last Bandoleros did a set. They were both really good.

Of course Sting was amazing!

Guess where we are now? Yep, Brooklyn! On Labor Day we went to NYC to visit our girls (and Toki). Not seen here, Apollo who hid from us. :(

We had a fantastic brunch at Sunday in Brooklyn.

I got this warm grain bowl. So yum. They are also known for their Sunday Pancakes™ so we got one for the table and it was delicious.

The best part was getting to spend some time with these two lovelies!
