My Beauty Product Empties

I like seeing what other people use in their daily lives so I'm sharing some of my recent faves. 

It's all about beauty products today!

1) ELF cleansing balm - I'm loving this cleansing balm for washing my face at night. It dissolves my makeup and I use a warm washcloth after I apply it. I feel like I'm getting a spa treatment!  I get mine at Target.

2) Dr Denese Avanced Firming Facial Pads-I used these years ago and don't know why I ever stopped.  They exfoliate fairly gently but you have to get used to the "tingling"at first and build up to using them every night.

3) Kirkland Body Wash-I'm on my second bottle and still love the fresh, citrusy fragrance!

4) The Ordinary 100% Plant Derived Squalane Oil-I love a facial oil and this one is super hydrating to put on at night before my moisturizer. I've put it in my hair too.

5)The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 5% in Squalane-I try different retinoid products from The Ordinary. This one is in an oil which I prefer.

6)The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% +ECGC-This lasts forever and is used to help with puffiness around the eyes.  

7) The Ordinary "The Buffet" - I go back and forth with this formula and another one but lately this one has been my go-to.

8) Matrixyl 10% + HA-This is what I use when I'm not using "The Buffet".

9)Mad Hippie Vitamin A Serum-I got to try free samples of these two Mad Hippie products. I love this serum for daytime.

10)Mad Hippie Antioxidant Facial Oil-this is another hydrating oil that I've used in my hair too.

A Small Trader Joe's Haul

A couple of new (to me) things and some staples are in this TJ's haul.

I didn't expect to love this salad as much as I do. The combination of the greens, veggies, crunchy toppings and creamy ranch dressing is SO good! I double the veggies when I make it to stretch the salad and the dressing.

I fully expected to love this and I do! Addictive!

We've been going through a lot of tomatoes lately so I picked up another package of the grape tomatoes.  I got raw cashew pieces instead of whole cashews because I use them in sauces mostly and it's cheaper to get the pieces.

I picked up some summer scented tin candles and some lemon kitchen soap.

{Field Trip} The Bronx Zoo

We visited the Bronx Zoo on a lovely weekend in April.   

It was our first time there and we were excited to explore. We got up there early to make sure we'd get parking and it wasn't a problem.   We were meeting up with some family so we waited for them and got some coffee.

While we were waiting we explored the entrance area.

We read about The Healing Totem that stands proudly near the entrance.  

City Girl met up with us and got to meet our youngest nephew.  They were instant buddies!  

It's definitely more fun to visit the zoo with a kiddo!

I didn't take many animal pics because were just enjoying the time with our nephew and seeing it through his eyes. The zoo is huge and we definitely did not get to visit every exhibit. We loved it and can't wait to go back!

After the zoo, City Girl took us to a wine bar in Brooklyn called Coast & Valley.  The three of us each did a different wine flight.

We had late lunch/early dinner at Fandi Mata.

The decor was gorgeous!

The food was yummy too!  Have you ever been to the Bronx Zoo?

Summer Dollar Tree Finds & A Costco Upgrade

 I stopped in at Dollar Tree last week and they were stocked for summer!

Unless you've been living under a rock (or don't shop at DT), you probably know that DT upped it's price to $1.25.

That definitely seems to have brought in higher quality items.  

The garden section had all kinds of accessories for the planting season.

They have you covered for summer entertaining.

Pick a fruit, any fruit!

They had lots of patriotic decor and serving pieces too.

Lots of grill themed items...

This area was new to me, all different stick on tiles for your walls. And it's removable!

They had some new to me beauty items. This one intrigued me so I bought one but the smell was off. I would say this is a "don't buy".

I also found this Baby Foot dupe. I haven't tried it yet but I've heard it's just as good as the original.

These little alarms are highly rated and I got one for one of our outside doors. It is LOUD!

This was a Costco find and I got it to upgrade my DT sun shade which was a miss. I'm loving this sunshade. It's huge and easy to set up and take down.

Easter in NYC

 We hopped a train to NYC on Easter morning to have brunch with City Girl.

It's always fun to walk around the city.

We had brunch at Cosme.

The food was upscale Mexican and sooooo yummy!

After brunch we walked around a bit.

We saw the Harry Potter store but when we tried to get in, we found out there was a 3 hour wait!  Next time!

Off to Fishs Eddy for us. I got a new NYC mug and a cute reusable shopping bag.

We also stopped in at Strand Bookstore which is pretty awesome.

Before we knew it, it was time to go back to the train station.

  

The trees were just starting to bloom and signs of spring were everywhere even though it was a bit chilly that day.

{Travel} Springtime Boston Visit

I'm still catching up on my blog posts, do we still even want them? Well I do so  here goes. We had a trip to Boston to visit College Girl back in April.

It started with a latte from Tatte. See what I did there?

These have become my favorite jeans and I wear them constantly.

We went the week before Easter because the Boston Marathon was the following weekend and hotel rooms were crazy expensive and hard to get.

Dinner the first night was at Joe's on Newbury.  It was a fun place. We walked around town afterwards. It was so nice being in Boston in the springtime!

The next morning we picked her up at her apartment and went to our favorite bagel place (Pavement) for some fuel. It was going to be a busy day.

We headed to campus because she was giving Welcome Day tours to incoming freshman.   I liked seeing the flag of the Ukraine flying with our flag.  We had some time to wait before her tour so we hung out in this cool umbrella tent for awhile and by the fire pits around campus.

We hopped on her tour and it was fun taking the tour again, we haven't done it in four years and now we had the best tour guide.  I'm glad we got to see the inside of this amazing ISEC building.

Walking around town and seeing all of the new spring flowers.   We took her shopping and on some excursions for her final assignment.   (She needed photos at places that were easier to drive to.)  We even saw a little snow!

Dinner that night was at a tapas place called Dali in Somerville.

I'm so glad we tried it.  We won't have many more trips to Boston, so we are trying to fit in as much as we can.

The food was delicious and the atmosphere was so cool. It looked like a great place for a big group celebration.

 The sangria was also tasty!

The next morning we went to Veggie Galaxy in Cambridge. Another fave! We hadn't been inside the restaurant in two years. So good to be back!

We found this cool tunnel full of graffiti so of course we had to take some pics.
