{Get Crafty} Easy DIY Bert & Mary Poppins Costumes

I'm interrupting my Disney recap posts to bring you our super simple costume idea.  If you need to catch up, start here.

We needed something lightweight for the Florida heat, easy to pack and comfortable to wear around the park all night.

Here are the pieces we used to pull it off:

1)Newsboy cap (I found this one at Kohl's)

2)Red scarf (I had this)

3)Red Suspenders (thrifted at Goodwill)

4)Vest (from an old costume)

5)Umbrella  (from this Gatsby party)

6)Hat with flower crown around it (that way I can reuse both)

7)Thrifted shirt (from an old costume) and ribbon for the neck

8)Black skirt (thrifted from Goodwill) red ribbon pinned on for the belt

Super thrifty and easy!

{Travel} Disney Day/Night 4-Disney Springs & Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

Day 4 of our Disney trip was definitely our best!

 We slept in and I got to have some coffee on our balcony while watching the animals of the savannah.

 It never got old!  We planned a low key day because we had tickets to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party that night.

 We went to Disney Springs (formerly known as Downtown Disney) that morning.  It's become quite the shopping mecca with many well known retailers as well as Disney stores.  We had an early lunch at our favorite quick service restaurant Wolfgang Puck Express.  I had the veggie/hummus wrap and sweet potato fries.

 I love visiting the Christmas shop and checking out the new merch.

 We(luckily) happened upon The Dress Shop which is a fantasy Disney dress store.

 They have character dresses as well as character inspired dresses with accessories....for grown ups!

Miss High School was planning to be a Tower of Terror bellhop and had a costume ready to go but then we saw this dress!  When she tried it on we knew it was meant to be!

 I was so happy we found Erin McKenna's Babycakes NYC bakery to try some of their vegan/gluten free treats.

 They have vegan soft serve too!

 The rest of the afternoon we spent relaxing by the resort pool.

Then it was time to go to the party!  Mr. Click and I were Bert and Mary Poppins.  There's our bellhop too!

 Once we entered Magic Kingdom and got our party wristbands, we were directed along a back pathway of the park which was really cool to see! We got a few Photopass shots and picked up our goodie bags for trick or treating.
 We had dinner at Pecos Bill's again.  (*Tip*If you're sharing the veggie fajitas like we did, you can request additional tortillas at no extra charge!).

 Once it got dark, the party was even more fun! We caught a glimpse of this ghostly lady while we were waiting for the Haunted Mansion ride.

 She was joined by the butler as we exited the ride.  They were interacting with the crowd and very entertaining!

 One of the major highlights of the party is the Boo To You Parade (kicked off by an appearance from the Headless Horseman!).

 This is a special parade that they only do at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.

The soundtrack is so good!

We ended our night by viewing the special fireworks spectacular then watching the Hocus Pocus castle show.

What a magical day!

{Travel} Disney Day/Night 3 - Celebrating a Special Birthday

Our third day in Disney started at Hollywood Studios.  It was all about the birthday girl today!

 We were celebrating Miss High School's 18th birthday.  This was right before they dropped the rope and let us in.

 You can see it wasn't too busy yet. The family made their way over to ride the Rock 'N' Rollercoaster and I got to leisurely stroll through the park.

Our next stop was the Star Wars Launch Bay.

 This was all new to us!

 Somebody's birthday dream came true!

 Mr. Click's favorite.

 I wasn't sure about this 'character' greeting--Kylo Ren was a bit intimidating!  He had some words for my Han Solo inspired daughter. She loved it.

Enjoying some blue milk (for display only) at the Mos Eisely cantina.  We didn't run into any jawas.

Getting her own sith lord name tag in Aurebesh (the most unique language in the galaxy) at the Launch Bay Cargo Store.

 We headed over to EPCOT to take advantage of our Fast Pass from the day before. It worked on two rides! Sweet!

 We had lunch in Morocco and went back to the hotel.

 That night we had dinner back in EPCOT at La Hacienda de San Angel in Mexico.  I had an Orange Mango Fire margarita and...

 ...veggie tacos. I love how they replaced the cheese with red cabbage. Yum!

 I still can't believe she's 18!

 What happens when you leave your phone at the table.

 We came out to a beautiful rainbow over Norway.

 China pavillion.

We ended the night by riding my favorite ride ever , Soarin' (also newly imagineered!).

{Travel} Disney Night 2- Boardwalk & EPCOT

By our second day of the trip, we were definitely getting back into the Disney swing of things.

That night we had dinner reservations (advanced dining reservations in Disney speak) at Trattoria al Forno at Disney's Boardwalk.  

It's not super easy to get from one resort to another (unless they are both on the monorail line) so you need to allow extra time to get there. We took a bus to Hollywood Studio then picked up the ferry to the Boardwalk.

It's a beautiful ride.  There are two stops you can get off for the boardwalk, the first one requires you to cross a little bridge to get there or you can stay on the boat and it will take you right to the resort (but takes a little longer).

We opted to hop off early and explore the Boardwalk a bit.

I don't remember being on Disney's Boardwalk before and I loved it!

We got to dinner (recommended by Miss High School who had been there over the summer on her cousins/grandma trip) and had some of this tasty bread and olive oil.

I ordered the potato pizza without cheese and it was delish!

We celebrated both of our birthdays that night and our waiter brought me some strawberry basil sorbet with a candle!
After dinner we headed to EPCOT on foot (an easy walk) and guess what? It started to rain! We were prepared this time with ponchos and umbrellas. The only bummer was that we had fast passes for Test Track and it wasn't running due to the weather (there was thunder and lightning too). But...... we were able to get new fast passes for the next day by going to Guest Services. Yay!
