Holiday Open House 2025

Welcome to our holiday open house! 

 I didn't think much of our decor had changed from last year but then I realized we had actually updated quite a few things around the house and it's fun to see what's new.  Here's last year's tour Holiday Tour of Our New Home if you're interested. 

Let's start in the front of the house. I put together some wintry planters with dried hydrangeas, other dried flowers, greens from our trees and some red berries from Trader Joe's.

Our entry has changed because we have the "new" Facebook Marketplace cabinet. I added the kitties' stockings (two of them are for our grand kitties).

Another update we did in 2025 was painting our island this lovely shade called Sea Cliff Heights.  We also reupholstered the bar stools.

I couldn't find the gingerbread ornaments at Ikea this year so I made my own.

Here's a close up. They were not that hard to make and are totally edible!

This view gives a glimpse of our new backyard fence.

Heading upstairs is a newer tree that we purchased last year.  We just leave it lit up and don't add ornaments. It really twinkles!

Willow says "Meowy Christmas!"

We got a snow day last Sunday that was so pretty but it's all gone now.

Our main bathroom has a little aqua tree that I love.

I also love the tree night light.

Our guest room looks a little different because we added a chair and moved the tree to another corner of the room.

Here's a peek out of the room into the hall and the next level. Those new Ikea shelves are coming in handy for hanging stockings and adding decor.

The primary bedroom got a new comforter set.  We have a little tree but you can't see it in this pic.

Here's a shot of it from last year. It's another twinkly tree that we don't decorate. The bed looks so different without the holiday bedding.

We painted the fireplace in the family room and love the black paint with our decorations.  

We also painted the back of the front door to match the island.

So I guess the house looks a little different than it did last year, after all!

Thanksgiving 2025

 We had a lovely Thanksgiving and here are some bits of the day.

City Girl #2 assembled this gorgeous charcuterie for us.

I made a small batch of my stuffing for our mini meal later in the weekend.

Mr. Click is always on mashed potato duty.

{Photography} Fall Photoshoot

I got to photograph these cuties(our niece and nephews) for a fun fall photoshoot. 

Photographing three kiddos 4 and under is definitely a challenge.

I had a team behind me trying to get smiles and giggles out of this trio.  Here are some of my favorite shots.

It's such an honor to capture this moment in time with these special kiddos!

Getting into the Holiday Spirit

We got into the holiday spirit by checking out a few festive spots. 

The first one was this darling store chock full of holiday decor and ambience.

There was a real wood burning stove in the corner of the store that was so toasty.

The grounds and other buildings were pretty too!

Another way I add some holiday fun to my life is by ordering my first festive warm drink. Peppermint mocha is my choice if I'm going for a sweet treat, but I enjoy plain old black coffee in a festive cup. The cold cups are cute as well.

We went to a Christmas Experience at a local restaurant that we had heard good things about.

I enjoyed my gingerbread martini.

The Christmas vibes were on point...

...and the food was delish!

I was feeling nostalgic and requested some Martha Stewart Christmas books from the library.

We got a new holiday comforter set from ALDI (yes, ALDI!) that we've been loving (and so has Willow!). I added our flannel sheets for peak coziness.

We tried out a new to us breakfast spot in town before heading out to do some holiday shopping.

Painting the Fireplace

 I wanted to get a few painting projects (like the front door) done before the holidays and this one had been on list for awhile.

The brick on the fireplace was a bumpy, greyish white and I never liked it.  I wanted to paint it black and even did this mock up on ChatGPT.

 I knew it would be an improvement.

We already had the paint so I just needed to prep and get going on the project. There was no going back at this point!

It wasn't the easiest surface to paint because of the texture og the bricks. It needed 3 coats but I completed the job in an afternoon.  Again, what took me so long to do this!?

It's not perfect but it's such an improvement to me and I love it against the wooden mantel and our floors.

Here's how it looked when I put the room back together.

Since that was over a month ago I snapped a shot of what it looks like decorated for Christmas right now.
