J'♥Montreal! Part 4

Trying to fit six days into four posts, not to mention sorting through my 200 plus photo isn't easy but I'm doing my best.   If you want to catch up, here's Part1, Part 2 and Part 3 of our trip.

We walked back from Old Montreal and stopped in at the beautiful Notre Dame Cathedral.

On the way there, we took a break for cupcakes and ice cream.

Entering Notre Dame was just awe inspiring and incredibly beautiful.

It's modeled after Notre Dame in France.

Back to the hotel and the rooftop swimming pool.

We decided to stay in town for dinner and on the way home we saw lots of people sitting on the sidewalks and lining up along the streets. We had know idea what was going but it sure looked like a parade was about to happen.  Two women on bicycle were handing out these "hats" to everyone.

All of a sudden we saw this group approaching.

They kept passing out flyers which we were all in French so we were mystified but loving it.

We later found out it was a Satire Parade and that was the only night to see it!

What luck!!!

The next day we took it easy and went to an English movie theater to see Despicable Me.

More shopping that night. We loved this bookstore called  Chapters. I liked this sign over the book display.

We had such a wonderful time in Montreal. Can't wait to go back!!!

J'♥Montreal! Part 3

To catch up, here's Part 1 and Part 2 of our trip.

Saturday we decided to SHOP right in downtown Montreal. What a great day for shopping, they close off Rue Sainte Catherine and all of the stores have sidewalk sales. It was like a huge, upscale flea market.

I really wanted to go to Roots and the store did not disappoint. LOVE their reusable shopping bags too.

In the evening we went down to Old Montreal by the water to view the Fireworks Competition. It was Team USA that week, oh well.

You can actually stand on this bridge to watch them but we weren't quite brave enough for that.

On Sunday we used our Musee/Metro pass again and hit up two museums in one day!

First off the Montreal Science Centre. It was full of really cool, interactive exhibits. Here's me on the infrared camera taking a picture of me taking a picture.

Then it was over to Pointe-a-Calliere(Montreal Museum of Archeology and History). This museum is built right over an archaeological site of the city's birthplace. 

It was very interesting!  There was a special exhibit about Easter Island that we also toured.

J'♥Montreal! Part 2

We took the Metro to Pie IX (Pronounced Pee Neuf) Station to see the Olympic Stadium and Botanical Gardens.  The gardens opened earlier so we went there first.

We thought this was it, uhhh..no this is just the outside of the Botanical Gardens.

This is the indoor part of the garden that we didn't even get into.

OK, time to head over to the Olympic Stadium and up into this funicular ride in the Observation Tower. All the way UP!

We had a birds eye view of Montreal, even on an overcast day.  On the way out we passed this theater, check out all of the French movie titles!  Our favorite was Detestable Moi!
