More About the New Rug

Last week in my Things Loved Lately post I gave you a peek at our new rug from Ikea.  Here's how it looks in the room.  It's the Hampen rug.

 I wasn't sure about it at first but now I love it!

 The texture adds a nice coziness to the space and the color visually opens up the room.

I thought it might be a tough color to keep clean because it is a high traffic area but so far it's been easy to clean and vacuums up beautifully.

{The Abode} In The Navy--Again

Yep, we loved this color (BM's Newburyport Blue)so much that we painted another room with it! 

We weren't planning to paint our den but we had leftover paint from our Master Bedroom Project and started looking for another room that would benefit from a color change.

Before I knew it, Mr Click was prepping....

...and painting the walls of the den.

The previous color was Benjamin Moore's Kennebunkport Green.

I found an old photo of the previous color here.  We painted the interior doors black back in October 2013 and switched out the rug some time ago.

I love the new color just as much as I do in the master!

My fabulous thrifted chair looks great against the darker walls.

Even though this room is a lot smaller than our master bedroom, the dark color doesn't make it feel smaller or more closed in at all.  It was a much needed update!

Updating our Abode - The Den

Our den: as we were touring the house.  Who's that cutie pie peeking out?

This is a great room but look one, two, three, four doors and two big windows. Not the easiest space to decorate.

We painted it Benjamin Moore's Kennebunkport Green.  It does have nice cathedral ceilings.

And furnished it with stuff we already owned. The table from here  served as a makeshift desk.  The double doors lead to the kitchen.

Bench with baskets (also from Ikea), you can see three of the four doors. In the left corner is the front door, powder room door and the laundry room door to the right.  That lovely string hanging down is from our skylight.

That door leads to the laundry room.

And lately this is what it looks like.There's no more desk or computer down here, just a comfy chair. We added the locker storage bench for shoes, coats, backpacks,etc.  This room is more of a large entry/foyer/mudroom than a den, but that's what it said on the floorplan.  I've changed the wool rug out for a more high-traffic-friendly-indoor-outdoor rug, because that pretty golden rug was looking muddy brown.
