{Family} Wedding Weekend

We celebrated a special couple a few weeks ago.
My mother in law got married and it was a beautiful day filled with family and friends.

All dressed up and ready to go!
They hired a photographer so I got to focus on the details.
 Always taking pics of flowers!
 And more flowers...
The wedding was held at the same place where Miss High School had her Vintage Glam Halloween at the Hollywood Tower Hotel Sweet 16 party.
The gorgeous cake.
More details...lots of pink. The favors were stemless wine glasses full of Kisses.
It was a perfect June day for a wedding and the mansion was the perfect backdrop for it.
I like getting the in between shots.  Miss High School made their floral crowns.
This was one of my favorite shots.
I also love this one of the cousins.
The groom got to do the whole 'something borrowed' thing too...these are my husband's grandfather's cuff links (and the father of the bride).  Pretty special!
The happy couple!

{Get Organized} Organizing the Junk Drawer-Dollar Store Style

This drawer was the 'baddest of the bad', worst of the worst, eyesore in my kitchen.
Every time we opened it, things would fall out or something would get stuck.  There were too many things stuffed into too small of a space.
Things had to get worse before they got better.  I took everything out of the drawer.
 Dusted and vacuumed it out.
Then came the fun part!  I played around with the organizers that I had found at Dollar Tree, seeing which was the best combination.  I also went through everything that had been in the drawers, deciding what to keep, toss, relocate or donate.
The finished drawer!!  Now all of our batteries are organized and in one place.  Taking them out of their packaging was a game changer.  I tossed out all of our take out menus because we can go on line for the menus now.  There's a full size mag flashlight on the left (hard to see).  Everything is at our fingertips.
Every time I open this drawer, I swoon. Seriously! I'm moving on to other drawers in the house now. Nothing is safe from my organizing mojo!  Have you organized anything lately?

Things Loved Lately - June Edition

Just a few of my favorite things, lately...
Honolulu Sun candle from Bath and Body Works, smells like a day at a tropical beach!
Batiste Dry Shampoo--great for in between washing days. It gives my hair lift and volume and I love the fresh smell. You can find it at Target.
Sir Kensington's Ketchup--I've been enjoying this with my Effortless Oil-Free Baked Fries lately.
Ketchups are usually too sweet for me but this one is just right (found at our local natural foods store).
We saw 'Finding Dory' on Father's Day and I loved it so much!
Sunny days, iced coffee and books!
I just tried kimchi and I'm a fan! Kimchi is a traditional Korean fermented side dish made up of vegetables and seasonings.  This one is made out of napa cabbage. It's spicy and pickle-y. Yum!

June is Bustin' Out All Over

The flowers in my garden are starting to bloom and are getting bigger every year.
I love the feathery flowers on the astilbe.
Sweet coreopsis just starting to bloom.
I'm not sure what this bush is but it has the prettiest lavender flowers and lime green foliage.
I spruced up the porch a little with a bright green watering can that goes perfectly with last year's Refreshing Porch Redo.
The hydrangeas don't look like they are going to bloom much this year.  We had a hard frost that destroyed all of the new growth.  This might be the only bloom we get. :(
Still loving my pear pillow cover from Ikea.
I added a fern this year.  Anyone remember this Tiered Terracotta Planter from 2010?
Our solar lights were in desperate need of an upgrade.  We found these beauties at Costco. They are so much brighter at night and make a really cool pattern on the ground when they are lit up.  They look pretty handsome during the day too.
My knockout roses are looking pretty good.
The salvia pops in front of the rose bushes.
This side section of our yard is like a little oasis.  I feel like it needs a focal point.
 More salvia.
My flowers from Mother's Day are doing really well and brightening up the deck (painted here).
The coneflowers are budding and getting ready to bloom.
These dianthus always give the front yard a bright pop of color.
The daisies are just starting to bloom. They just make me happy!

{Recipe} Effortless Oil-Free Baked Fries

These fries are so easy and delicious, they've become a regular weeknight favorite.   They are so flavorful with just the right amount of seasonings and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. There's not a speck of oil in them either so they are guilt free and healthy too!
Start with 2-3 large Russet (or Yukon Gold) potatoes. Scrub and clean the potatoes well.  Preheat oven to 400F.
Slice into wedges and place the wedges in a bowl.
Add seasonings. I don't measure but approximately 1 tsp of Kosher salt, 1 tsp ground black pepper, 1/2 - 1 tsp of garlic powder and 1/2 - 1 tsp onion powder.
Stir to coat the potato wedges in the spices.
Now here's how you get crispy, oil free fries...Arrange the wedges on cooling racks. They can be touching but not overlapping.  Sprinkle any remaining seasonings from the bowl onto the wedges. Place the cooling racks right onto the oven racks and bake for 30-40 minutes at 400 F.
I usually check mine at the 30 minute mark, to see if some of them are done(smaller, thinner wedges cook up more quickly).
Serve immediately, hot out of the oven for best results. (Reheated leftovers are good too).
Lately, my favorite dipping sauces are catsup, Sriracha and spicy mustard.
