Malia from Ramblings of a Small Town Girl turned a windfall of rhubarb into Strawberry Rhubarb Jam. Smart lady!

Stephanie from Casa Watckins (yep, she's a fellow co-host, check her out!) showed us how to make a swanky DIY Sea Urchin Succulent Vase using sea urchin vase fillers and faux succulents. So chic!

Refreshing Porch Redo

The last time I gave the porch a makeover was in July 2013.  It got a good cleaning, a new outdoor rug  and table and some cut flowers. 

 That year we also painted our Interior and Exterior Doors Black

which I'm still loving, beeteedubs!

I found a few items to freshen it up this year from Ikea.

The hanging lanterns look like paper but are made out of nylon so they are perfect for outside. They are also solar powered and glow at night.    I added a few pots for flowers and a minty green glass lantern to the side table.

The outdoor pillow covers were already on clearance in May so I grabbed one of them too.

The rug is still holding up pretty well and works with the new, fresh color scheme.  This makes me a happy girl!

Patriotic Summer Mantel

I know it's not officially summer yet but I've decorated my mantel to reflect the summer holidays.  School's out for both of my girls so it already feels like summer.

It started with this red, white and blue bouquet (roses, lilacs, ajuga) in my Chalk Painted Mason Jar that I made last summer.

I'm always on the lookout for patriotic decorations when I go thrifting and most of the items are either thrifted or crafted.

Best Mother's Day Gift!!

I got the best Mother's Day gift this year!

College Girl surprised me and came home for the weekend!

She made it home just in time to go to my niece's graduation party with us. 

   This is the "house" being built next door to their property...pretty amazing, right?

She also got to go out to Mother's Day brunch with the family (surprising all of them) and I got to see my mom. The humidity was not being kind to my hair.

 I love this grilled veggie and quinoa platter from Carmel Wine Bar & Kitchen. I think I've ordered it every time I've been there.

  I have to remember "no beets" next time though, I still don't like beets.  #beetsmakemegag

I got this pretty Alex and Ani bracelet too!
After brunch we went to the garden center and they helped me pick out flowers for my containers and gardens (a Mom's day tradition).  I definitely think we overdid it this year.

   We also stopped at our friend's house where another Mother's Day brunch was in progress. I wish I had taken more photos but I was enjoying myself too much!
