Retail Therapy

You know I love a good day of thrifting and bargain hunting but sometimes it's nice to treat yo' self and get some new goodies (like my reading glasses).
I was excited to see the new-to-me store, Primark while out prom dress shopping with Miss High School. We had to check it out.  Primark is a UK based store featuring affordable clothing and home goods. We split a 5 pack of fun socks (these are my three pictured) and I got some desert boots in olive.
Seen here on a recent trip to Ikea.  I almost forgot about them when the weather warmed up but good ol' man winter brought us snow last weekend and we've had cooler temps on and off so they were getting a lot of wear.
I had a few Christmas gifts that I wanted to exchange at Nordstrom, I know..3 months later! Good thing Nordstrom has an awesome return policy...and we had the receipts. I picked up this Gorjana necklace in gold.  This photo doesn't do it justice but it has just the right amount of sparkle. I've barely taken it off since I got it.

I also got a new Alex and Ani bracelet. Most of mine are in gold, so I'm loving this silver anchor right now.  It mixes well with my other bracelets.  I'm smitten with the leather bracelet (Rooted Mystery Wrap) too. It's no longer in stock in my color though.
I've been on the hunt for the perfect green sweater for awhile now. I finally found this one at NY & Co and I love it! It's got some really nice touches like metal buttons on the sleeves and ribbon lined button placket in the front. Seen wearing it here on Easter.
Last but not least, my new GLASS water bottle.  It's from Target and it's called  "Coachella" by Ello.
I also should give a shout out to my nail color. It's Bottle Service from Essie.  I didn't buy it but I need to!!

{Wordless Wednesday} 04.13.16 New Specs

I finally caved and got some reading glasses.
I don't need them all of the time, only when my eyes are tired or the print is really tiny.  They come in handy when I'm grocery shopping and trying to read the ingredients.
These tortoise shell cuties are from Peepers.com.

{Recipe} Crockpot Jackfruit Pulled "Pork"

I put together another jackfruit recipe. This one is based on a roasted pork tenderloin I used to make. Jackfruit mimics pulled pork after it's been cooked for awhile and it also takes on the flavors of whatever you cook it in like my Vegan BBQ Jackfruit with Avocado Slaw recipe.
I used two cans of jackfruit (found at my favorite Indian Supermarket).
Drain and rinse well.
Then rinse again.  Mine turned out a little salty so I'd rinse it even more.
Make the marinade.  I mixed 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil, 2-3 TBS* liquid aminos (or soy sauce), 2 TBS crushed garlic and  2 TBS Dijon mustard  with 1/2 cup of water. Whisk well.  Add black pepper. *I'd use less liquid aminos next time to cut down on the saltiness.*
Pour over the jackfruit in a crock pot.
I added two cloves of garlic to the jackfruit.
Cooked on low for 6 hours.
Shred the jackfruit with two forks.  It looks a lot like pulled pork. This would be good served on rolls or over pasta.

{Get Crafty} Celebrity Tattoo Eggs

It is too late for one more Easter craft?  These are fun, no matter what time of year. Celebrity Tattoo Eggs (better than Celebrity Egg Tattoos...am I right?!) are the brainchild of Studio DIY- an awesome website/blog for entertaining and all things fun.
 For this craft you'll need:
1) Eggs-hard boiled or blown out
 2) Tattoo Paper (I ordered mine on line from Hobby Lobby)
4) Egg dyes or food coloring and vinegar

5) Printable (here)
Make sure the words are backwards - see my saga below!

I dyed a few eggs for the sayings and kept the rest natural for the celeb faces.  I ran into a little trouble after printing out my tattoo sheet, the sayings were not backwards as they said in the tutorial. I was so bummed and left a comment on the blog about the error.   I was positive when I first looked at the project, the words were displayed backwards!  It wasn't the wine, I promise!
To my surprise, I got an email from Kelly (creator of Studio DIY) that night and the corrected file!  She also fixed it on the site.  She said there had been a problem with the uploaded file.  I was so impressed.
The sad thing was that I was out of tattoo paper. :(   Womp womp womp...
I found some transfer paper from my Calligraphy Eggs and my DIY Ballard Design Beverage Tags and printed out a few of the corrected sayings.  Project saved!
I didn't have much of the transfer paper left but I was able to get a few out of it.
These are fun, quirky and silly. They would appeal to ages teen and up. I know I got a kick out of them!
