{Shopping} What I got at J.Crew Factory

I needed some basic pieces that I could mix and match and found them all at J.Crew Factory. They were having a great sale too!  Here's what I added to my cart.

This is a nice lightweight cardigan in fresh white. It's perfect for the rest of the summer.
This is a great staple and I love the neutral khaki color.
I can always use a new belt and the braiding detail is something different for my wardrobe.

The cozy tee shirt feels very substantial more like a thin sweater material. It's definitely an elevated tee.
I've wanted one of these classic gingham shirts for a long time and finally got my hands on one.  I think it will be a great layering piece but also works well on its own.
It's light enough to wear in the summer, like I styled it here.
Do you ever shop at J.Crew Factory?

{Recipe} Dad's Marinade For Chicken & Tofu (or Beef)*Updated*

I've mentioned this recipe before and thought it wasn't up on the blog but I just realized I made one back in 2015.   I'm giving it a little update now.  I've always called this "Dad's Marinade" but it's actually his dad's recipe and it's actuall called-Barbecue Sauce for Chicken or Beef (and in this case, tofu) I'm not a fan of traditional barbecue sauce and consider this more of a marinade.
Ingredients (for 2 -3 pounds of protein)
Dry Ingredients:
2 TBS flour
2 TBS sugar
1 tsp salt
Liquid Ingredients:
1 cup oil (I use avocado)
3/4 cup red wine vinegar
1/4 cup lemon juice
6 TBS total of the following sauces:( I use 2 TBS of each)
Worcestershire Sauce
Soy Sauce
A-1 Steak Sauce
2 bouillon cubes (I use No-Chicken bouillon)
1/2 tsp Tabasco
1/2 cup wine (optional)
To make:
  • Warm liquid ingredients and sauces in a medium sized sauce pan
  • Sift in dry ingredients
  • Heat, stirring frequently until browned and thickened
  • Add bouillon cubes, tabasco and wine
  • If it needs extending add: {1/2 cup oil, 1/4 cup lemon juice, 1/4 cup wine, 1 TBS A-1 sauce}
  • Let cool before pouring over protein to marinate
  • Marinate for several hours or overnight in a covered dish in the fridge
  • Broil or Grill using marinade to baste
We made this recently when we had visitors and it was such a nice memory of my dad (he always used chicken thighs but we used chicken breast and tofu).
I also made my Strawberry Crunch Cake and it was just as delicious as I remembered!

{Travel} OrlandoTrip-J.W.Marriott & Universal Studios-Part 4

We woke up to this beautiful view on our last Disney day.  We were sad to leave but happy our trip wasn't over yet. You can catch up on our Disney adventures here.

We would be checking out and heading to the next part of our trip in Orlando.
We always started our mornings with this yogurt parfait but this morning was much more relaxed since we weren't going to the parks.

We packed up and stowed our bags at the hotel before having one last bit of Disney. We headed over to Disney Springs for lunch and some shopping.
We had lunch at Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill. We loved the former quick service restaurant so we decided to try this new to us spot.  It did not disappoint!  After lunch we did some shopping and both of us did well at Uniqlo.  It was so hot out though we did not last too long.
We took an uber to our new hotel, the JW Marriott Orlando, Grand Lakes.

It was stunning!  Mr. Click had to meet up with his conference and I got to chill in the room and check out the gorgeous grounds.

The pool area was huge with a sprawling lazy river and water slide.
That night there was an event for the conference and here's my "fit".
There were some really talented performers and an amazing magician that blew my mind with his card tricks.  It was a fun evening!
The next day I was on my own during the conference. I started it with a long walk around the property.
This was another section of apartment style rooms.
The gardens were so pretty.
I headed to the pool for the day.
My poolside lunch was delicious.
I enjoyed reading my book and would cool off in the lazy river whenever I needed to.
The next day was more of the same (I did not mind!).
On the last night there was a private event.
They bused us over to Universal Studios!
We were taken backstage and had dinner and drinks.  We got to hang out with some real characters.
They gave us special light up wristbands and escorted us to Islands of Adventure for dessert and rides. The park was closing and we had it all to ourselves.
It was so much fun to walk around the practically empty park.
We weren't up for going on the rides but we had fun watching others go on them.
A view of Hogwarts on our walk back to the buses.
See how empty it is?!
Free popcorn for the win! It was the perfect ending to a wonderful trip!

{Travel} D.I.S.N.E.Y./Orlando Trip- Part 3

This was our last full day of Disney and we went hard!

I was ready for our morning in Animal Kingdom.
Made it to the gates!
We had to stop for a photo with The Tree of Life.

We were heading straight for Pandora to ride Avatar Flight of Passage. I was able to go through the entire queue with Mr. Click and just exited before the actual riding of the Banshees.  After that we rode on the beautiful Na'vi River Journey.

We then headed over to Kilimanjaro Safaris.

That is always a great experience.
We always like to head to Gorilla Falls Exploration Trails after the safari.  The gorillas are so entertaining.
We had lunch at Satu'li Canteen, one of my favorite quick service spots. I got the Chili Spiced Crispy Fried Tofu Bowl.
We stopped for a break and a cocktail at Nomad Lounge.   It's a very nice respite from the park and we met some nice people at the bar.  I could sit there all day!

But we had plans and after a sweet break we headed to Hollywood Studios and finally got to ride Minnie & Mickey's Runaway Railroad.   After that we headed back to the hotel to do some packing and to freshen up.
We ended our Disney adventure where we started - Magic Kingdom.
Another shot of the castle.
We wanted to take a peek at the newest attraction, Tiana's Bayou Adventure. It was about to open but wasn't quite ready.
We had dining reservations at Tony's Town Square Restaurant.

We were in the solarium so we could see people walking by as it got dark and all of the lights turned on outside.

The garlic bread was delicious! We each had spaghetti and meatballs (mine were plant based).  It's nice to see more vegetarian options at the restaurants.

We caught the fireworks show as we were leaving.
Our last stop was a trip on the monorail over to The Polynesian. It's our favorite place to stay and we love to visit.   We said goodbye to Disney but our trip wasn't over.
