{Scrapbooking} Digital and Done 2014 & 2015

I haven't done an updated digital scrapbook post since 2014 and I recently finished up our 2015 photo album so I thought it was time to share a little.

I must have finished up 2014 awhile ago.   I like adding a photo of all four of us to the cover page.

  I use Shutterfly for the albums and I've been happy with the quality.

 I try and do them in chronological order and fit as many photos as possible. I still leave out a lot of photos but I try to get the best ones.

 It's fun looking back...8th grade?!

 Trips are fun to document and remember.

2015

 

 2015 was a big year for us: 4 milestone birthdays (16, 21 and two 50's!)

There was a lot of partying!

 We went to Aruba and...

 the beach.

 Visited NYC...

 and celebrated Halloween.

 Did some photo shoots.

 Celebrated the holidays and...

 ended with the back cover (with a photo).

Each time I make an album, I learn something new. I finally figured out I could add a year to the spine of the album.  I'm going to try and be better about exporting my favorite photos to Shutterfly over the year and make a few pages at a time so it's not such a big job at one time.  Then when they're having a sale (like free extra pages) I'll be ready!

*edit* Shutterfly just extended their FREE UNLIMITED PAGES sale until Wednesday. This is an awesome deal if you have a lot of photos like I do!   I might just finish 2017 yet!

You probably know them from their super successful blog and their podcast has been around for over a year now but I'm just catching up while I paint furniture. They talk about home, decor, life with kids and restoring a beach house (among other things). I always get some good advice or learn about a new product while I'm listening.

This is another awesome home focused blog and I really love their style. This article had a lot of great tips for low to no-cost refreshing your home. I've been moving furniture around like a boss (so I've checked off number 1 on their list).

Watching...Queer Eye on Netflix

I wasn't sure I'd like the reboot from the original Bravo show that aired back in the early 2000's(which I loved) but I am hooked and have already watched the entire season (8 episodes) and will probably watch it again.  The new Fab 5 are all amazing, you will fall in love with them too!

{The Abode} New Projects 2018 and Progress

We've kicked off our 2018 with a flurry of home improvement projects. It feels good to get back to it after not doing much in that area for the last couple of months. The last thing we did was City Girl's bedroom.  The two main areas we are working on are the master bedroom and the basement.

Here are the before shots and projects:
1) Upgrade to a king sized bed and mattress in the master bedroom.
2) New furniture and layout for the basement.

Project 1)
Our first step was to sell the bed and sectional.  They both went quickly and forced us to get moving on the rooms.

This is the bed we ordered for the master.  Before that we chose a mattress from Nectar. I did some research and this seemed to be a risk-free option (365 day trial!).  They were running a sale but also running behind in production so we had to wait a few weeks for the mattress to arrive.  The bed arrived quickly but the first one had had a small indentation on the headboard so we exchanged it for a new one.

Once we found out the mattress was arriving (on Monday!) we put the bed together. It was a fairly easy assembly for two people.    I didn't get a photo of the slats, they had to be no more than 3 inches apart for the mattress (you don't need a box spring for this mattress--but you can use one if you like).

In the interim we put the old queen size mattress on the frame for the weekend (this was on Saturday).  Now you can see the slats!  

And the mattress arrived...to be continued!

Project 2)

My friend G came over to help me with some ideas for furniture placement after the sectional was moved out. Since the room has to function as a tv/lounge, my home photography studio and mini kitchen(snack center), we needed to figure out how to best utilize the space.  This was a work in progress shot.

The book shelf came out of hubby's office as we swapped out the old tv console for this one(below). His office now has the old tv console and the basement took the book shelf.

This was such a steal from Costco because it was a floor model and 50 % off. We love it!  We also brought down the Ballard Designs leather recliner from the living room.

We decided on this sofa from the Novogratz collection at Walmart, yes Walmart! I've had my eye on this tufted sleeper sofa for ages and finally have a room I can use it in.  It's getting delivered this week.

 We're painting the new-to-the room bookshelf and...

It's coming along...

 I found these marble coasters are Target because sometimes you just need to add something pretty in the midst of the mess. I'm going to add more marble accents in the future. The plan is to get a bar height table for behind the sofa with some stools so I'm on the hunt for them...to be continued!

Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl Parade 2018

Yesterday I told you about our food and fun on Super Bowl Sunday, click here to read all about it.  Talk about an exciting week--Sunday night Super Bowl winners, Wednesday morning we had an ice storm/snow day and Wednesday night we went to Philly to stay in an Airbnb for the parade.

Mr. Click was away and was meeting us there and we caught a ride with my niece.  The Airbnb was SO cool, I had to take some pics of it!

It was in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philly which has seen a lot of change and growth over the past few years.

This was the master bedroom.

And the master bath.That tile made me swoon!  Anyway, I digress...but isn't it gorge?   That night we walked to a local taqueria called Loco Pez, there were so many restaurants in the area, it was hard to pick but this one seemed to please everyone. Dollar Tacos and margarita pitchers? Yes, please!  Back at the house we met up with the hubs and we all played a few rounds of Most Likely To, Cards Against Humanity and Taboo.

Here's the whole gang bright and early ready to get to the parade route!

We walked to the "El"(subway line) which was only a block away from our place. It was running free all day and it was mobbed. They were controlling the number of people they'd let up to the platform at a time and we still had to wait for a few trains because all of the trains were packed and we were a party of 8.  Everyone was in a great mood and the atmosphere was so festive. There were a few breakout E-A-G-L-E-S cheers.

Once we got to the City Hall area we staked out an area to stand and I got to take some photos.

These sky writers went by a few times and spelled out Philly Philly Dilly Dilly.

That is a person on the very top of the building.

It started to get more and more crowded the closer it got to parade time.  I was ok with not pushing to the front and standing back by our barricade.

The "youngin's" moved up closer and I hoped we'd see them again after the parade. It was WAY too crowded for me. I had Mr. Click take these photos because he's tall and could get a better view of the sea of green!

Most people were very nice and friendly as we were all stuck together in our spots. I've never seen so many people in one place.  The St.Patrick's Day parade was nothing like this!

Here we are in front of City Hall, that lady in the eagle hat behind us was a trip.

Those are humans on the top of that building!

I'm not going to lie, I was happy when it was over and people started dispersing..and we found the kids!  We decided to walk back to our airbnb (it was about 2 1/2 miles away). I was happy to walk after standing in the cold for so long.

Would I do it again, no way! But I'm glad I was there for this history making day to experience it with our family.
