{Entertaining}Irish Night 2015

We hosted our annual Irish Night a little later this year (see our other Irish Nights here and here).
Hosting it later did not guarantee a warm night. In fact, we got a lot of snow that day into the evening. Luckily most of our guests could walk to the party.
Getting ready...
We served a variety of green and Irish themed foods.
The sweet and salty green popcorn was easy to make (recipe to come).  I also made Cheddar Leek Dip and served guacamole chips.
I tried a new recipe for Irish soda bread that I will share in a future post.
This  Crowd-Pleasing Vegan Caesar Salad was a big hit.  I loved those chick pea croutons and all of that garlic-y, "cheesey" kale!
Of course I made shepherd's pie, both turkey and vegetarian.  Our friends brought their now famous colcannon (potatoes, leeks and cabbage with lots of butter). I made red potato chowder to fill out the carb fest.   Our guests also brought shrimp, fruit and dessert.
 We got tattooed! ;)
We had some very special Chinese visitors and loved introducing them to our Irish night tradition.

{Get Thrifty} Thursday 04.02.15

I haven't been able to go thrifting lately so I was happy to have an excuse to browse Goodwill the other day.
It wasn't a big haul but I'm trying to be more selective with my purchases.
{I found:}
an Old Navy plaid button down (I love the little bit of pink subtly running through it)
a long sleeved Merona white t-shirt (I needed one that was a little heftier/thicker and this one is super soft)
and...
a funky Garage brand sweater
 The back of the sweater.
I wore it this week with black jeans and clogs.
Here's an update on a previous thrift
Remember this Old Navy Perfect tee? I paired it with the same jeans and a denim jacket.
It's starting to feel a little more like spring!!
This isn't technically a thrift store score but it was a great deal.
Miss High School went to a semi formal last weekend in this pretty pale pink dress from Forever 21.
Have you gotten any great deals lately?

CanvasPop Review and Giveaway

I was asked to try out CanvasPop  and was thrilled with their product and customer service. You can get your own free canvas (scroll down for details) too.
Disclaimer: I was given a free canvas but all opinions are my own.
The process couldn't have been easier. I selected a photo(probably the hardest part!), and my contact at CanvasPop (hey Kristoffer!) gave me some tips and suggestions while I was making my selection.

Before I knew it, this box was on my front porch.
I couldn't wait to open it!

I've tried it in a few spots around the house but I still haven't decided where it will hang permanently.
For now, it's been fun to see it on different walls and to gaze at it from different rooms (and to dream about Paris of course!).
***
Great news!!
CanvasPop is giving one lucky reader their very own 16x20 canvas with a .75"deep wrap (and $80 value) plus free shipping to the US or Canada!!
Go check out CanvasPop for yourself and leave me a comment, telling me what you'd love to have printed on a large canvas.
Winner will be selected at random on 4/7/15.
