{The Abode} Decorating The Pool House For Christmas

 Ever since we bought this house, I wanted to decorate our cute little pool house for Christmas.

It got a glow up this summer with this lovely paint job and I added a flower box for summer blooms (no longer blooming here!)

I wanted to use as many things as we had onhand and try and thrift some of the decor too. I started by pulling these planters from the back porch over to flank the doorway. I added a flameless candle lantern from the back porch too.  I cut some greens for the flower box.

We did purchase some new garland, some picks and got new lights.  I already had the sled and skates and the doormat was from last year.

I added more greens to the containers and there's my little red lantern from the thrift store, I also added the flameless candle that I found on the same thrift trip (for some reason it's not pictured here).
Here it is all lit up at night.  I also added battery operated lights on the little trees and a battery operated candle in the window.

We switched our fence's solar lights to red and green to give the backyard a festive glow.

I got a shot of the super moon rising over the pool house. How cool!

It's our little secret (until now) backyard cozy cabin. Maybe next year we'll have the inside done too!  Hot cocoa bar, anyone?

{Photography} Engagement Photo Shoot

Back in October I got to do a very special photo shoot.

My niece and her fiancé asked me to photograph them for their save the dates and wedding website.

We started out on the boardwalk.

I loved this colorful mural as a backdrop.

We then headed down to the beach. A dog came by to see what we were doing.

It was a beautiful night.

She had a lot of poses in mind and I also added a few that I wanted to take.

I'm obsessed with this one of her ring!

I enhanced the sky in this one...

...but you can see how gorgeous it was as the sun was setting.  I'm so happy we got one of the four of us!

October/November Thrift Finds

November isn't technically over yet, but here's everything I've thrifted over the last two months.

I can't believe I found a winter jacket that ticked off all of the boxes I wanted.  I was especially happy for non-zippered pockets.  I'm hoping it will keep me super warm this winter.  

I got this Lauren Conrad blouse, I'm usually a fan of her line and this is another pretty one.

This sweater is similar to the brightly colored cardigan I got a few months ago but in a turtleneck style. I'm loving bright color lately.

I also got a flameless candle, a rainbow umbrella and a red lantern.

The candle and the lantern are for a project I've been working on (coming soon). How cute is the bird on the lantern?

I also had an idea for this umbrella but not sure it will happen.

This was a fun Goodwill score- a whole box of Christmas crackers!

Happening & Loving Lately

In no particular order, this is what's been happening/I've been loving lately.

I painted the inside of our front door in the same color as our kitchen island, Sea Cliff Heights by Benjamin Moore. It really brightens up this little spot

I didn't love this, but we had our heating and a/c systems replaced.  This was our disgusting, old furnace so it was badly needed.

We also replaced our old fence.  It looks pretty bad when it's all stacked up like this.

The new one is a major improvement.

We celebrated my birthday with the girls at a local-ish restaurant. They took the ferry over from NYC for the first time and loved it.

One of the neighboring towns was the location for filming Netflix's The Four Seasons-season 2.    This is Colman Domingo and Marco Calvani filming a scene.

It was so cool to see it being shot and to see all of the equipment, people, etc.

These guys were the stand-ins for the above actors. 

The day after my birthday dinner we were expecting a pretty bad storm. We got a lot of wind and some rain.

Going out to breakfast at a new to us place.

My mother in law made me this beautiful and intricate bouquet of money roses for my birthday.

Speaking of roses, we had some late blooming knockout roses in the garden that I cut and brought inside.

Adding a little fall decor to the island.

This house had the coolest silhouettes in their windows for Halloween. It was incredible! 

City Girl #2 and I saw Wicked For Good last night and I can't stop thinking about it!
