{Travel} Nashville Trip-Day 2 Trolley Tour

Day 2 in Nashville and we were up early having breakfast at the hotel.  We had booked the Old Town Trolley Hop On Hop Off Nashville Tour for the morning to get a better feel for the city.  We had done that on our Charleston/Savannah trip and loved it.  This was the same tour company too.

The Legislative Plaza and the Capitol Building.
A view of Centennial Park and The Parthenon (a recreation of the one in Greece). We did the whole tour and then got off of the trolley to take a break and get some lunch.

Cafe Intermezzo's outdoor seating caught our eye and the menu looked tasty.
Sitting out on the porch was so nice.

After lunch we were energized to hop back on the tour and explore some more of the places we had seen that morning.

Marathon Motor Works.

Acme Farm Supply Building

We got off of the trolley to explore Belmont University and Belmont Mansion.

It was a beautiful college campus.
Music Row looks like a bunch of houses but they are all recording studios.
I could not get used to the diagonal crosswalks in Nashville.

That night we had dinner at Sixty Vines.  We wanted to go somewhere off of Broadway and away from the noise and crowds.

This place was so hip and fun. The food was amazing too.
Walking back to our hotel.

{Travel} Nashville Trip-Day 1-Downtown

We took a trip to Nashville last month. It was our first time there and we were excited to check out Music City. Our hotel room wasn't ready when we got there so we stowed our bags and took a look around. We walked along Broadway, which is the main street in downtown Nashville.

It was sensory and auditory overload for with so many sights and sounds.  This boot matches his sneakers.  Bands start playing at 10am at the honky tonks and you can watch and hear them from the street through large open air windows.
This is the AT & T building also known as The Batman Building.
We needed a little pick me up so we stopped for a coffee break and then got the text that our room was ready.  We stayed at the Hilton Nashville Downtown because of its location and proximity to downtown spots.
We changed and headed out for some lunch.  We tried some local beverages too.
It was fun listening to the band while we ate lunch at Honky Tonk Central.
After that we did some more exploring and checked out the Nashville Visitor Center inside this huge glass tower attached to the Bridgestone Arena.
We took a stroll through the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame which is free through the end of the year.
There were some fun photo ops in the Visitor Center.
This is the Legends Mural painted on the side of Legends Corner Bar.  Fun fact: Taylor Swift used to be on it but was replaced by Brad Paisley in 2020.  I added my own legend to this photo.

That night we walked across the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge.

There were some amazing views of the city and many photo shoots going on as well.

We did our own photo shoot. :)

We checked out Jacks Bar-B-Que for dinner as it came highly recommended.  I was happy sampling all of the sides and Mr Click enjoyed the brisket.

We did some more exploring and saw Printers Alley.
This used to be the center of Nashville nightlife.
We walked back to Broadway and the streets had gotten busier and louder. It was a Tuesday night! We went to Luke Bryan's place to listen to some more music.
We got a beautiful view of the city at night up on the rooftop deck before heading back to the hotel for the night.

{Shopping} Spring Trader Joe's Haul

I had two trip to TJ's recently and here what I got.

1)Vegan Italian Sausage-Less Sausage-I've had these before and we like them. I have an upcoming recipe that uses them too.
2)Quinoa Cowboy Veggie Burgers-I hadn't bought these in awhile and needed a change.
3)Organic Rainbow Cauliflower-the colors are so pretty and I was influenced to buy them for curry.
4)Vegetable Fried Rice-I hadn't bought this in awhile either. It could use some bulking up with a protein and more veggies but it's a good meal starter.
5)Meatless Cheese-Burger Pizza-this sounds interesting for pizza night!
7)The Squiggly Knife Cut Noodles just sound so fun for ramen or a stir fry.
8)I always love a classic English Muffin.
9)I grabbed a shelf stable Almond Milk for the pantry.
10)This Tikka Masala Curry Sauce was new to me. I made it this week (adding some of the cauliflower along with other veggies and chickpeas) and it is delicious!
11) I bought this Crunchy Chili Onion Oil before and wanted to try it again. It adds a lot of flavor to veggies and wraps.
12)These Mini Chocolate Chip Cookies caught my eye.

13)I got some Butternut Squash to roast up.
14) Cucumbers are a staple in my fridge
15)I love the Shredded Cabbage Blend in my salads
16) TJ's Green Onions are a good buy and I always regrow them by a sunny window.
17)We were out of tomatoes so we grabbed this pack of Heavenly Villagio Marzano Tomatoes. They are huge and so sweet!
18) We hadn't gotten the Half Baked Ficelle in awhile, it was time. So good!
19)My favorite Vegan Green Goddess has been out of stock so I gave this Vegan Creamy Dill Dressing a try and I'm so glad I did- I'm obsessed. It's not overly dill-y at all. It's more like a ranch.
20)I love checking out the beauty items. I'm excited to get this Hair Serum in my hair!

What have you found at TJ's lately?

{Travel} Easter in NYC

Another Easter in NYC but this year we got to spend it with both of our daughters.

It was a beautiful spring day in the city and we met up with City Girl #2 at the Harry Potter store.
We tried to visit last year but there was a 3 hour wait.
This time we walked right in.
We had fun exploring the store.  There was a line for Butter Beer so we skipped that.
We got coffee instead and walked around Madison Square Park until ....

...meeting up with City Girl #1 at One Fifth for brunch.

Family selfie.  Brunch was great and we headed out for more exploring.

Union Square park was buzzing with people and looking so pretty.

The daffodils were blooming  and so were the cherry blossoms. It was such a fun day in NYC!
