We had tickets to a jazz show in Harlem and decided to make a night of it in the city.
Here's my 'fit' before we left for the train. I love this sweater vest from Primark but hardly ever wear it. I also had my new Cosco (Anthro dupe) pants on.
We had a complimentary night at Hilton that had to be redeemed before it expired so it was perfect timing. We stayed at the
Hilton Midtown and stopped in at the executive lounge after we checked in.

We left a little early so we could look around Harlem as this was our first time there.
We both felt like it looked like NYC in the movies.
It was beautiful.
We met up with City Girl #2 at
Angel of Harlem. I chose it for it's proximity to the music venue and I loved the name.
It definitely lived up to the reviews as a party place and felt like we were walking into a club. It was taking extra long for our table to be available so the manager gave us some mimosas.
We finally got our table and the food came out quickly. I had the pecan crusted salmon.

It was a 5 minute walk to the venue and it was in this gorgeous, historic brownstone,
The Harlem Flophouse.
I couldn't wait to get a look at the interior. It's been restored by the owner and is a hotel and event space.

The musicians were warming up in the living room and were able to chat and mingle with the guests. They were from a local NYC music school and from different parts of the world.
I had to use the bathroom and was able to view some of the guest rooms upstairs.It felt like we were watching a performance in someone's living room--and we were!
I don't know much about jazz but the musicians were talented and it was interesting to hear their stories.

The next morning we had brunch plans with both girls.
It was a beautiful morning in NYC and we had a nice walk to the restaurant. I love when it's quiet like that on Sunday mornings.
We had a yummy brunch at
Isla & Co. but did not try the kangaroo skewers.
It was great to have a little family time before heading home!
