Anniversary Weekend-Dinner in Philly & Hamilton in NYC+Winery Gig!!

We had a busy anniversary weekend this year!

 Mr. Click had a gig on the actual day so we went out to dinner the night before.

We went into Philly for dinner and walked around a bit then stopped in for a drink first.

We had been wanting to try Suraya for awhile and finally did. We did the tasting menu and it was all delicious! I'm still dreaming about the warm pita!

The next morning I was on the train and headed for NYC.  I won the ticket lottery for Hamilton!!   I've won it once before and that was four years ago. This time City Girl 2 got to go with me.

We met up for brunch at Dolly Varden. It was a cute spot and the brunch was yummy!

The tickets were for the matinee show which was perfect.

Hamilton is still amazing and mind blowing. Our seats were front row, center and we had to ask the usher twice because we could not believe it.

Our backs are touching the stage here at our seats!!!

At intermission we got to peek into the orchestra pit.  That was really cool!

After the show I walked back to Penn Station through Times Square-not my favorite way to get through the city-but I made it with no issues.

The next day Mr. Click's had a gig at a winery. I thought it was going to be hot but they had lots of tables in the shade.

It was a beautiful place and a great way to end our weekend.  What are you up to this weekend?

Bundt Pan Lasagna

This is more of a technique than a recipe. Use your favorite lasagna recipe!

 Mr. Click saw this interesting way to make lasagna so we gave it a try.  We rarely use the Bundt pan so it was fun to break it out!

Start by lining the pan with cooked lasagna noodles.

Wrap a few pieces around the center.

Start adding layers. We used a meat sauce made with Beefless Ground from Trader Joe's.

Add some pieces of lasagna between the layers. We added some ricotta cheese.

We did a few layers of meat sauce, ricotta, cheese and mozzarella cheese and adding some pesto on top.

Once all of the layers are done, flip the lasagna noodles over the top of the pan.

We criss-crossed them but you can also layer them in a spiral formation.

Cover the top with sauce and bake according to your recipe.

We flipped ours out onto a cutting board and marveled at it as it cooled. Cut into slices.

Add more sauce on the side if you like.  What do you think? Would you ever try making lasagna this way?

One Night In NYC-Dinner with Friends & Roosevelt Island

Our friends from Italy were visiting New York this summer and we arranged to meet up with them for dinner in NYC.  (City Girl 1 couldn't join us because she had just started orientation for grad school).

We hadn't seen them since our trip to Italy in 2019 so it was great to catch up!

We made a night of it and stayed at this super hip Freehand Hotel.  I loved every bit of the place.  Here's a little blurb about the hotel "Located in Manhattan’s Flatiron District, Freehand New York is housed in the former George Washington Hotel—once home to many storied writers, musicians and creatives. Designed by Roman and Williams and featuring custom-commissioned artwork by Bard College students and alumni throughout, we’re revitalizing the artistic community in a historic NY neighborhood."

After dinner we went back to the hotel lounge for a drink.  It had such a cool vibe.

Even the glasses and ice cubes were stylish!

The room had so many interesting touches, like this wooden radio that really worked.

I was obsessed with the details in the bathroom, from the tiny green subway tiles to this interesting paneling all over the walls. It was tiny but gorgeous.

The room was small but had everything we needed.

The light fixtures were all made out of pottery and you can kind of see the quotes written on the wall.

The next morning City Girl 2 met up with for breakfast at Sunflower in Gramercy. The coffee drinks and food were delicious.

Looking for something to do, we decided to go visit Roosevelt Island and take the tramway over.

The ride is quick and the views are awesome.  It's supposed to be gorgeous at sunset.

The tram drops you off on the island you feel like you're not in the city anymore.

It's quiet and peaceful. There are shops, restaurants and lots of apartment buildings.

You're surrounded by water and the views are stunning.

To get back to the city you can take the trams but we chose the ferry system.

It was a beautiful day and you get quite the architectural and sightseeing tour from the ferry.

We had to transfer one time to get the ferry to Brooklyn but it was pretty easy to navigate.

Our last stop was grabbing a slice at the famous Joe's Pizza Williamsburg location before getting the train home.

Costco Finds

 We go to Costco every week and here are some of my favorite finds lately.

They always have huge pumpkins for a pretty good price. These were $6.99 so I picked up my first pumpkin of the season.

The Green Giant Arborvitae looked like a really good deal.

The berries a few weeks ago were priced really low and were delicious.

We were excited to see these soft pretzels. We've ordered from this company before and love the pretzels. What a buy!

I also picked up this huge charcuterie board. Hopefully I will be using it a lot in the future.

It was nice to see this big box of Hippeas at Costco.  We are big fans!

We got this scrape mat for our back door where it gets quite messy and leafy from the woods.

We needed a new set of sheets and I picked these up.  I love a fresh new set of white sheets. 

This Wine Adventure Advent Calendar has become a fun holiday tradition. I'm glad we snagged one!
