{Travel} Six The Musical & Philadelphia Magic Gardens

 We went back to Philly the following weekend after being there for the Punk Rock Flea Market.  We hopped on the train this time. Easy peasy!

I won the ticket lottery for Six the Musical and we decided to spend the night and make a weekend out of it.  

We used Marriott points to stay at the Residence Inn Center City. The location was fantastic and we had stunning city views.  We had a gorgeous corner room with a full kitchen and living space. It was huge! 

After checking in, we headed out to explore the city a bit.

We found this cute French bakery and cafe called J'aime. We tried this amazing merveilleux pastry.

We had dinner reservations at Vintage Wine Bar. We shared some small plates but this kale salad was all mine.

It was such a beautiful night in the city. It was still 80º at 6pm. We walked over to the Kimmel Center to pick up our tickets.

The show was fantastic. It's more like a concert. The talent was mind blowing and the show itself is a lot of fun.

After a quick breakfast in the hotel we checked out and stowed our bags with the hotel.   We walked over to the Philadelphia Magic Gardens.  I reserved our tickets through our local library. It's such a great resource for museum passes and activities.

You can spend as long as you like exploring the gardens.

The gardens are mostly outdoors so nice weather definitely helps. It didn't feel crowded even though there were plenty of other people walking around.  

Walking around the city, of course we see some Philly Phanatic art.

We stopped for lunch at El Vez.   We've been there before and always enjoy it.

One more walk around the city before we picked up our bags and caught the train home.  It was such a fun weekend!

{Field Trip} Philly Punk Rock Flea Market

 It was a beautiful spring weekend so we checked out the Philly Punk Rock Flea Market.

It was my first time going to one and I wasn't sure what to expect. They had so many vendors and there was a dj pumping out tunes.   What's at a punk rock flea market?  Lots of vintage clothing and decor, cool handmade items, jewelry, baked goods, records...etc.

And there were so many people there! 
After we were finished at the flea market, we stopped at Harpers Garden for a snack.

We sat out on the patio.

These green houses looked cool too (or hot!). It was pretty sunny and warm by that point.

We spent more time in the city and walked around Rittenhouse Square.  It was the perfect day for an outing!

{Travel} One Quick Night in NYC

Mr. Click had a work event in NYC and was meeting our girls for dinner so of course I had to tag along!

I got my Dunkin' for the train ride.

He was staying at the Marriott Marquis and that was an easy walk from the train station. I hung out in the lobby watching the futuristic elevators going up and down while I was waiting for him to finish up.

We were able to check in around 4pm.  I had some time to relax before dinner and he had to get back to the conference.

We had a great dinner at Ribalta with the girls.  This was the only photo I took.   

I enjoyed my morning coffee with a city view and then headed back to the train station for the trip home.

{Field Trip} Candle Making

We had a candle making Groupon date that was about to expire so of course we couldn't let that happen. We didn't know what to expect when we got there.

We were seated around a bar and given a clipboard to write down the scents we liked from this huge candle wall. We had to pick 8 scents...and not all similar ones. 

These were the 8 that I selected. They give the corresponding oils and you squeeze the bottles (there's a technique so you don't get it in your eyes) to mix the scents to your liking. 

Mr. Click selected R & B, Christoff and Rain. I selected Anjou Pear, Baked Bread and Rosemary.

We then mixed the scented oils together in this little cup.  They bring you over a candle tin with melted wax in it and you add the oils to the wax.  

You have to stir them together for about 2 minutes.  

Then you add the wick and let the wax harden. While you wait, you make a label for your candle.   Once the candles are ready, they are packed up in a cute bag for you with some candle care and burning information. They tell you to wait at least 24 hours before burning your candle for a stronger candle scent. 

My sentiments exactly!
