This is our second (and last) bathroom renovation in the new house. We loved that the house had two full baths but didn't love the bathrooms themselves. Our main floor bathroom only had a tub so the downstairs bath had our only shower!?
We definitely didn't love having to go down two flights of stairs to shower each day.
But...since it was the only shower, we decided to tackle the main floor bathroom first. Read all about it
here. We were so excited to get started on this one when it was time! Here are some quick before photos that I snapped.
This renovation also included our laundry room. The two rooms are connected and we felt the laundry room needed some TLC as well.
There was peel and stick flooring and the side wall was covered in faux stick on subway tile. The first thing we did was pull down the cabinets over the washer and dryer.

Demo began and was pretty exciting...until we saw the result! Once they started framing things out, we felt a little better.
One of the upgrades was getting larger shower and getting rid of the plastic one we had before.
Tile day is one of my favorite days!! We chose white beveled subway tile for the shower and carried it out onto the laundry room wall.
I also love seeing the vanity get put into its place...things are moving along!
The subway tile could not be used as a floor so I had make a quick decision on the shower floor tile. It adds some "beachy" colors to the very white room.
The laundry room tiled wall after the grout. It also gives us a little shelf.
Next came the floors! We used the same flooring that we had used in our lower level family room and hallway off of the laundry room - Lifeproof Sundance Hickory Canyon Luxury Vinyl from Home Depot.

We wanted more space in the laundry room and opted for a stackable washer/dryer. One subtle addition we did was having the ceiling and the pipes all painted black rather than trying to add a ceiling to only part of the room.
We were able to re-hang our extra pantry storage after the room had been painted.
Our contractor built a new step for the outside door. I added a magnetic drying rack to the side of the dryer and a magnetic door holder to keep the washer open while it dries out after a load.
The final piece was getting the glass shower door installed. I chose matte black fixtures for the room and swapped out the vanity knobs as well.
We added some colorful artwork behind the toilet and a few more finishing touches around the room. We also have a small wall heater because the room didn't have any HVAC attached to it!? I'm sure it will come in handy in the colder months. There wasn't a space to hang a mirror in front of the vanity but we propped one up and it does the job (if you're not TOO tall).
