I'm back from a little hiatus and now it's June! And a Monday post! What?! Back in May, Mr Click's band had a gig in Virginia at this beautiful farm.
Flying Ace Farm is also a brewery and a distillery. It's in Lovettsville, Virginia.
The grounds were gorgeous and they had excellent weather for an outdoor gig.
This inside space was pretty amazing too!We were so close to West Virginia and had never been there before so we decided to stay there overnight. In the morning we headed to Harper's Ferry. We parked at the train station and filled out an envelope to pay for our parking.
The town is part of the National Park system and is full of history and charm. Meriwether Lewis stopped here for some arms back in 1803.
There is a mix of reproduced shops and storefronts along with real stores for shopping.
Harpers Ferry Historic National Park is at the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers. It's along the Appalachian Scenic Trail. We saw lots of hikers in town.
The views from the footpath bridge were stunning.
Someone told us there was an osprey nest up here with chicks. We could see the nest but we didn't get to see the chicks. The nests are massive.
We enjoyed walking around the town and going in the stores.
There was a historical candy shop that had candy from all different decades.
Here's a better shot of John Brown's Fort. It's the site of the last stand of abolitionist John Brown in his 1859 assault upon slavery in Harpers Ferry. We hiked up to the gothic style and impressive looking St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church. Some say it is haunted. We were on our way up to Jefferson Rock. That had an amazing view as well.
We couldn't get enough of these gorgeous views. It really is Almost Heaven (and the John Denver song is stuck in my head--maybe yours too?). #yourewelcome

Thanks for coming along. Have you ever been to West Virginia?
