Catching Some Local Tunes

We got out for an afternoon of music and lunch. The weather was perfect for listening to some tunes outdoors.

I'm wearing my thrifted J Crew popover shirt and my new favorite necklace (it goes with everything).

It was the start of summer lunchtime concert series on the lawn of the Bucks County court house.

This may or may not have been Bernie Sanders watching from the street.

After the show, we checked out this place for lunch.

I got the lemon hummus wrap and some bright emerald green juice.  The wrap was delicious and tangy, the juice was.....ummm different.  Have you seen any local music lately?

Curtains-The Musical

 This was Miss High School's spring musical called "Curtains".   The show was back in April so it's about time I did a post about it.

You know it's going to be an exciting show when you see signs like this in the lobby.

From Wikipedia "the musical is a send-up of backstage murder mystery plots, set in 1959 Boston, Massachusetts and follows the fallout when the supremely untalented star of Robbin' Hood of the Old West is murdered during her opening night curtain call.  It is up to Lt. Frank Cioffi, a police detective who moonlights as a musical theater fan to save the show,solve the case, and maybe even find love before the show reopens, without getting killed himself."  Fun Fact: David Hyde Pierce from Frasier played Frank Cioffi on Broadway.

Miss H.S.  played the part of Bambi Bernet, "a performer in the chorus and daughter of Carmen, the lead producer. 

Hungry to work her way up to leading performer; she has a contentious relationship with her mother, who insists on calling her by her real name, Elaine (Bambi is a stage name.)"

This was such a fun role for her and she got to show off her comedic acting, singing and dancing chops.

Being part of an ensemble cast is such a great experience.  I'm always so impressed with the talent of these kids.

Even though rehearsals ruled our lives for three and a half months and we were relieved when the show ends, it's always a major let down when it's over. I always wish I could see " just one more show". (I saw it SIX times, once in dress rehearsal, it never got old!).

Nutella Lovers' Graduation Gift

This was a quickie gift that I put together for my niece who loves Nutella.  I picked up the two-pack of Nutella a Costco to give it a nice big impact.   Instead of wrapping it up or putting it in a gift bag, I tied it up with red ribbon to match her school colors.  

The 2016 tag is from a pack that I found in the Target dollar section.

 Then I put her real gift ($$) in a graduation card and slid it in the back of the package behind the ribbon.  A spoon would have been cute too. Oh well!

This was another gift she received from her friends.  The note says "One cannot live on pizza alone...you also need a little "dough".  How cute and creative!!

Switchel

Have you heard of Switchel? 

  It was new to me.  I found it at our local natural foods store.  It sounded interesting, acccording to the label that reads "For centuries this restorative drink has quenched the thirst of hard workers on farms across North America including ours."  It's a blend of apple cider vinegar, spring water, honey and ginger.  Zingy!

It sure has a unique taste and it definitely is a thirst quencher. I only need a swig of it at a time but I'm sure a cold glass of this after a hard, hot day in the fields would be so refreshing.  Is this something you'd ever try?  Have you ever heard of it?
