{Get Crafty} Popsicle Stick Snowflake

I like getting all of the Christmas decorations down but it's a little sad too.

So to cheer me up I made this Popsicle Stick Snowflake for the front door.

I found the idea on Pinterest here.

January can be tricky because I'm not ready for Valentine's decorations but it feels like I need a little something in the way of winter decor.

 I had all of the supplies on hand-even an unopened protractor(which I didn't use).

Supplies:

Popsicle sticks

Hot glue gun

Acrylic Paint

Protractor (optional)

 Start by making a 6 stick asterisk with hot glue.  If you are into perfection, glue them at perfect 30 degree angles.

If you're like me, just eye ball it.

{Yay for imperfectionists!}

 Continue building by adding sticks to form diamond shapes from the asterisk.

 Of course every snowflake is different so go ahead and make your own design. I liked this one (adding a "chicken foot" to each diamond).

I posted this shot on Instagram yesterday of the paint in progress.  I used three coats of white acrylic paint. I couldn't wait to see how it looked on our black door.

I used some floral wire to hang it and boom it was up!

It makes a simple,bold statement for sure and I love it!

You can see it from the street which makes me happy.

{No, that's not our real house number.}

The project also cost me $0 since I had everything on hand but it's a thrifty craft even if you have to buy the supplies.

I jumped on the Flipagram bandwagon when I saw some of the cute videos that people were making on Instagram. The first video I made went WAY too fast and had WAY too many photos while giving me a headache whenever I looked at it (much as I loved it) so I broke it down into the four seasons of 2013.

{Giveaway} Powerocks Magicstick Portable Charger Review and Giveaway

They don't call this thing Magicstick for nothing!

Powerocks contacted me to review their Magicstick mobile charger and I was excited to give it a try.

There is nothing scarier than running out of power on your phone when you are stranded and sometimes it's just plain inconvenient when you aren't able to connect to a power source on the go.

The Magicstick 2800mAHbattery means that you can get two charges out of it before it needs recharging!  It's super lightweight and portable and comes with its own little carrying pouch.

It charges standard smartphones and other digital devices like Bluetooth headsets, cameras, GPS and e-readers.  

Look at all of the fun colors it comes in.

The Magicstick is perfect for vacation but also for everyday use.

We put it to the test last week when we went to New York City for the day and used our Iphones all day, depleting most of our batteries with constant use.

 We pulled out the Magicstick on the train on our way home and we were all able to individually charge up our devices so we had enough power to use them on the trip back.

I'm a fan!

{Recipe}Candy Bar Pretzel Bites

I've got another sweet(and salty) treat for you today. 

We had all a lot of our Halloween candy left and I didn't want to be tempted by it so I tied it up in a bag and stuck it out of sight until I could find a good use for it.

 I found the perfect recipe here and you could make these any time of the year by changing the color of the candy coat and sprinkles.

"Ingredients"

Square pretzels

mini candy bars

candy coating

sprinkles

 Lay out the pretzels on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper or Silpat.  Put one mini candy bar on each pretzel.  For the Kit Kats, I broke them into smaller bite sized pieces.  Put the tray into a 300 F oven for about 3 minutes until the chocolate softens and remove from oven

 Put another pretzel on top of each square and press gently. 

Allow to cool

Dip in melted candy coating and add sprinkles of your choice.

Let harden and you're done!

They looked great on our trays of Christmas cookies and added a nice salty complement to all of the other sweets.
