Oak Leaf Hydrangeas

You know I love my hydrangeas but I only have the blue/purple variety. My mom is quite the master gardener and introduced me to her gorgeous white oak leaf hydrangea.

The leaves really look like oak tree leaves!

The white flowers are so light and airy

I think I need to get one of these for my garden!

I don't think I've ever seen these before either. They're so flat, the little flowers. Really pretty.

Hi Heather,

Thanks for stopping by tonight.

My sister in North Alabama has several large Oak Leaf Hydrangeas. I love them too.
I think it was Southern Living that had the directions for taking cuttings from a hydrangea bush and growing them in a pot until the next planting season. I am thinking of doing this with my sister's bush as it is about 35 years old. Seems a little more special somehow.

Hi Heather, Karen here! Love your pictures of the oak leaf hydrangea. I have something similar without the oak leaves...has regular hydrangea leaves. I love it because, like you say, so light and airy with the white flowers...then they turn a light pink...then they turn a rich berry color...Magnificent.

Thanks for the visit to your blog. I am going to join as a follower and learn how to make the watermellon faucet! Cheers, Karen

Love the white hydrangeas, and especially love how they can be dried in the fall and kept through the dreary winter months!
Happy WW!
