{Travel} Night 4/Day 5-Pubs, Grub & Arthur's Seat

Welcome back to our Edinburgh adventure, if you read yesterday's know we had a full day of touring the city. Catch up here if you're interested.  We wanted to check out the live music scene that night so after a dinner of Mexican food we stopped into a pub where the music sounded fun.
It was packed so we didn't take many photos.  The singer was Irish and did a good mix of popular songs and traditional Irish music.  We met some Eagles fans from our area who were actually on the Ghost/Ghoul tour with us and recognized Mr. Click from his Eagles hat.

We had a trip to Arthur's Seat planned for the morning.
Black Jeggings: Target (old)
It was about a 2 mile walk from our flat to Holyrood Park.
Arthur's Peak is the highest peak in Holyrood Park and the park itself is 640 acres.
It's an ancient volcano that sits 251m above sea level and offers the most spectacular views of the city.
We walked up pretty high.
It was super windy up there...
but the views were worth it.
It was a little cloudy and lightly raining and you could still see really far.
Mr. Click conquering the world.

I couldn't stop taking pictures in every direction I could see.
College Girl took this one of us.
After all of that hiking, we walked back into town for lunch at Pumpkin Brown's.

It was a sweet vegan cafe and we shared a rice bowl, pumpkin soup with the best bread and pumpkin hummus toast.
We wanted to some shopping since we were leaving the next day so we went back to Princes Street, walking through the park on the way there and back.
It's really such a beautiful city!
We also hit up some shops on Victoria Street (aka Diagon Alley).
We wanted to make it an early night and went to The Red Squirrel for dinner.
Veggie burger and fries were on point!  We made it an early night because we had to pack and get ready for DUBLIN!

{Travel} Day 4-Edinburgh: Camera Obscura, Royal Mile & Harry Potter Tour

Day 4 of our trip and it was College Girl's first full day in Edinburgh and we had a very full day planned for her! To catch up on our journey, start here.  Mornings in our flat were my favorite when we'd put the gas fireplace on (it was nice for a glass of wine at night too!). How cozy is this?
OOTD on Day 4.
Skirt: Primark (last year)
Fleece Lined Tights (so good!) Primark
Long sleeved t-shirt: Target
Chambray Button Down (old)
Shoes: Tom's
Necklace: Thrifted
Another morning at Edinburgh Castle. Beautiful!
Our first stop was Camera Obscura & World Of Illusions. This was a must see on so many lists.
It's got 5 floors of interactive hands-on exhibits and it's definitely fun for any age!  The view from the top is spectacular.  You wait up here for the show and they let in about 20 people at a time for the show which is so cool!
After that you can take your time and visit each floor and check out all of the mind bending exhibits.
This was a fun one and an employee offered to take our photo.
It's all about perspective, right?
After that, we strolled down the Royal Mile.
There are so many little shops along the way where you can find tartan-everything!
 Some live music!
We stopped for lunch at a pub that had vegan fish chips.  They were amazing!
We didn't get to go into these buildings...we had to turn around to get to our next destination.

Walking back up the Royal Mile.

We had to get back into the center of town for The Potter Trail, Harry Potter walking tour. This was another highly recommended tour (and it's FREE!).

Our tour guide Liv was awesome.  You start in the Greyfriar's Kirk cemetery.

JK Rowling wrote the Harry Potter in Edinburgh and the city has many ties to the books.  Like this plaque for a poet named McGonnagall who many have inspired a certain professor's name.

Liv handed out wands, I got to be the one in our group of three to hold it. We did a couple of spells while crossing streets.

This is where the name Tom Riddell allegedly comes from.
Someone made this a Sirius Black memorial and someone else decided to cast a spell there.

This place claims to be the birthplace of HP (what is with that font?) but it's only partially true. She did write in this cafe sometimes but also in another one that her brother in law owned.    You can sign up to join Dumbledore's Army in their bathroom.  The business has to repaint the walls every year because they get so many signatures.
Finally, you end up in what was most likely the inspiration for Diagon Alley.

Things Loved Lately

I'll be back with more Edinburgh/Dublin adventures soon. For now I'm sharing some of my favorite things that I've been loving lately.
This candle from Bath & Body. It smells like you're making something yummy!

Kopari Natural Coconut Oil deodorant.  I'm giving natural deodorant a try and so far, so good. It was time to ditch the aluminum and other nasty anti perspirant additives.  This silky stuff smells amazing and feel so good going on, not sticky at all,. Their website said it could take a few weeks to detox until it's truly effective but I haven't had any issues.

My homemade pea soup.  I made my crockpot recipe but on the stove this time.
This rainbow sweater that I bought in Ireland at Next. I have gotten so many compliments on it (even a woman who was working at security in Dublin said she "loved my jumper!"
This nail color, I love getting my nails done!! The color is Ginger's Revenge from OPI.

Starbucks holiday cups always make me happy!
My letterboard got in on the Thanksgiving fun.
Speaking of Thanksgiving, this lovely card from an even lovelier blog friend. Go say "hi" to Cindy.
I finally tried the Trader Joe's butternut squash crust pizza that I bought back in this haul.  It takes awhile to cook it but it held together better than the cauliflower crust pizza and it was quite tasty!
