Updating our Abode-What would you do with this?

I'd give it a paint job and a nice vinyl word treatment. Now, what DID you do??? Inquiring minds and all...
Personally, it would have gone buh-bye along with the moulding around the doorway (and possibly replaced with something really plain and chunky or not replaced at all). I might have also taken out that wall above the opening to the ceiling.
But that's just my judgement call from seeing one photo, so...
Interested to see how you handled it!
