{Recipe} Salsa

The weather turned summery this weekend and we got a craving for some homemade salsa. I combined two recipes to make this version.
Chop some tomatoes

and a bunch of fresh cilantro.

Finely chop some onions (we used half of a yellow, half of a red and some green onions).
Mix it all up with a finely minced jalapeno (more if you like it hotter), garlic, fresh lemon juice, kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, chili powder and oregano. Test it out on a tortilla chip to see if it needs anything.  This was perfection!

We also added some of this to a few mashed up avocados and made guacamole.

Yes Ma'am, and three different kinds of onion. By June 12, I should have enough to make fresh salsa and guacamole!

There is absolutely nothing like the taste of homemade salsa! I usually use the McCormick or Lawrys mix, but you've inspired me to try it your way, totally from scratch!
Happy REDnesday!

I tried making fresh salsa once, but couldn't stand the taste of cilantro!

ourlifeinaclick.blogspot.com said...

Charlotte, they say that about cilantro either you love it or hate it. I forget where I heard that..maybe Martha Stewart.

Thanks for the comments everybody! This is delicious and just tastes like summer!
