{Entertaining} Celebrating Seventeen

I wasn't the only one with a birthday in October. We also celebrated (and celebrated and celebrated) a special 17 year old.
Yep, 17!  I still think of her like this...my little entertainer.
She's still my entertainer but also this lovely young lady (and still my baby).  We had a busy month and I'm going to recap all of her birthday celebrations and happenings in one mega post.
First off, was her family party but it also fell on her junior class ring day.  We started the day with a ring day mass followed by a luncheon at a local country club.
Meanwhile things were getting prepared for the party.  Her cake request was this Flourless Chocolate Cake.
Her sister made the cake and an amazing apple crisp.
She used this recipe for Vegan Apple Crisp and it was a winner!
Some of the party set up - using my(beloved) Ikea Raskog cart for the bar.
I found the felt ball garland on etsy.  It's so fun, I'm leaving it on the cart permanently!
The calm before the storm..actually the party was pretty small and calm this year. We had the newly painted family room built-ins ready to reveal.
Our menu was mostly made ahead of time.  I made the two soups earlier in the week and reheated them in crockpots the day of. The Spicy Thai Noodles were made a day or two before and got better as they marinated.  I had everything ready for the Vegan Caesar Salad and assembled it right before the party. We bought some party sized Stouffers Mac & Cheese too.
The appetizers were tomato pie (purchased) and Buffalo Chickpea Dip (made ahead and baked right before the party) and always a big hit with our families.
Dinner is served!  The soups aren't pictured here, they are on another counter.
Cake time and desserts.  Happy Birthday #1.
That weekend I took the birthday girl out for a mother-daughter breakfast at one of our favorite spots before she had to go to work.  Avocado toast, scones, coffee and homemade granola with fruit were all on point.
Mr. Click was out of town for her actual birthday so we all celebrated at Cheesecake Factory when he got back.  This vegan cobb salad is a good one (minus the beets!) #nobeetsforme
Happy Birthday #2!
She also had a small celebration with friends at the house.  We decorated the basement with a boho vibe. This tapestry is from her room and served as a photo backdrop and decoration.
We stocked the fridge with LaCroix seltzer and lots of bottled water.
I made Pioneer Woman's Chocolate Sheet Cake and decorated it with Sixlets (like M & M's but round).  This cake deserves it's own post (coming soon).
I snapped a few pics of the pre-party set up.  We pushed the sofas out to the walls to make more room and used lots of flameless candles.
We also hung lots of light strands (from Target and Primark), a tassel banner from this party and
paper lanterns (from previous parties) all around the room.  I used clear Command hooks and fishing line to hang them from the ceiling.
More seating in the room.
We stayed upstairs and only came down to the party to bring them pizza and cake. We sure heard them though.
Happy Birthday #3!!  I hope all of your wishes come true!  Mom needs a nap now.
Let's keep in touch!
