A New York Minute

Little one was away and we planned on visiting colleges with her big sister but Hurricane Earl had other plans for us.   The colleges couldn't tell us if they'd be open for tours or not but it didn't look good.  Quick change of plans, head to NYC for the night!  It's her favorite place in the whole world. Oh and did I mention it was our anniversary too?   We checked into our Times Square hotel (exciting) and were greeted with HOT cookies.  Yum!!

Fancy bed.
Hanging out in the sitting area on the pull out sofa.
The vanity/kitchen area. I loved the little Wolfgang Puck pod coffee maker.
We headed right outside to try our luck at the TKTS line for half price Broadway tickets.  The line was REALLY long but it moved so quickly, and there was so much to see as we were standing there, that we were up front in no time.

What to see, what to see???

In The Heights was our first choice.

The view from our room.

We went to dinner here.

We had a great meal!

My pasta dish, it's out of focus but it was sooooo good!
{Orecchiette Pugliesi: handmade “little ears” pasta, broccoli rabe, Pecorino Romano and herbed bread crumbs}

Someone was finishing up her summer English reading.

The cappuccino, served with chocolate cookies.
The bar.
Cool old chandelier

Stuffed and ready to do a little walking and shopping, we stopped at the Swatch store.
Another cool chandelier, this one was made out of Swatch watches!

Times Square, as it gets dark...
Here's the hotel.
Aren't these great?

We're here!

Jordin Sparks (American Idol) was playing the part of  Nina. The show was AMAZING!!!

We walked back to our hotel, the lights are so bright in Times Square (this is 10 o'clock at night!)
to be continued....

Looks like a fun trip. We have never stayed in NY city. We have only driven through on a tour bus on the way back from Maine. Hubby doesn't care to go there. I really would like to some day and go to the shows and shop!

Happy Anniversary! What a fun trip to celebrate it. It looks like you guys had a blast! I've always wanted to go visit NYC, but haven't quite made it there yet. Sooner or later I will, and I will TOTALLY see a Broadway show! So envious of you guys! :)

I LOVE New York! We live about two hours away, but we only make it there once a year. It's my absolute favorite city.

I'm going to be really glad when we're DONE with the major stuff and can start budgeting for vacation again. Until then, you certainly give me plenty of chances to do it vicariously through you! As always, fantastic photos.
