I'd seen the idea to turn a mantel clock into a cloche on a few sites around blog land. I found a little clock on one of my Goodwill trips for $3.97 so I knew it was time to try it for myself.
It started out looking like this (and did not work anymore).
Before I purchased it, I made sure that I'd be able to get the glass top off of the base. It looked like it would be fairly simple to unscrew the few screws on the bottom.
Here are all the pieces after I disassembled it (minus the glass).
I decided to give the base a coat of that Heirloom White that every body's been raving about.
I also painted the base from this cloche project while I was at it.
Here's the new cloche. It's tiny so it can't hold too much.
I tried out a few different ideas.
A little bird, some coral and a mini nest.
A mini English cottage from my British BFF.
A clay bee and rosebuds made by my younger daughter in art class.
The little Easter tea pot house(also purchased on the same GW run) fits on there without the glass.
And one of my faves, our Christmas card photo when my oldest was a baby. Awwwwww!!
But it wasn't all unicorns and lollipops, no...this cloche and me, just weren't meant to be. I dropped the glass top on my kitchen floor and it shattered into a million pieces. FAIL!!! I'm keeping the base and it's holding up a little silver bowl in the china cabinet right now.{sniffle}
Off to look for more clocks!

Oh I am so sorry your broke it. I hope you find something else. What a disappointment. I've seen several glass vases at GW that have a semi round bottom and they also make wonderful cloches. You can even glue a little knob on the bottom when it is turned over. Hope you find something. Hugs, Marty
It was beautiful I want a cloche so bad..... I cant tell you how many beautiful things I have smashed not the 3 kids under 6 ME lol
