Drugstore Makeup Testing

I was intrigued by the article Here's What 5 Cult Drugstore Products Look Like On 5 Women by Refinery 29 that kept popping up on my blog feed.  In the article they test out five popular drugstore cosmetics, each under $10, on five of their staffers to see if their cult status holds up.  I thought it might be fun to try them out for myself so I jotted them down in my phone and looked for them whenever I was out and about (and near cosmetics).  So far I've only found two of the products, I guess they are as popular as the article points out.  I found the blush at Target and the eye shadow at the grocery store.
First up is E.L.F. Cosmetics Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder ($4) in St. Lucia.
The blush is a light, shimmery peach-pink and the bronzer is a medium toned matte finish.  I rarely use bronzer but I tried it do some contouring and really liked it.  The blush is very light and perfect for a daytime look but can also be built up for a darker, more dramatic look for nighttime.
The other product I was able to find was L'Oreal Paris Infallible Eye Shadow in Amber Rush ($8.49)
This is a pretty, shimmery rose gold color.  It's very silky and smooth to apply and stays on! I love the hint of glitter without being too blingy!
Here's a quick pic (no filter) of me in the products.  I could definitely use some lipstick, I'm still looking for that one (NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Copenhagen)!  What are your favorite drugstore cosmetics?

Hey Pretty Lady! Good feature on these favorites! I always like trying new beauty items. I was just online yesterday at Lush and Sephora checking out some new finds. Quick question - if I use that Bronzing Powder in "St Lucia" will I be transported immediately? Definitely not digging our upcoming forecast - 16-24 inches tomorrow/Wednesday and that will move our last school day to...(gasp) JUNE 27th - latest ever! Spring has to come sometime! Thanks for the tips!

I'm liking the Rimmel eye crayon that I blogged about. I managed to get it in the supermarket. Buuuut that L'Oréal eyeshadow in Amber Rush looks fab. I will go and get that.

These look great. I love the bronzer combo! Nars lipstick is suppose to be awesome. It's not a drugstore, but I see it online all the time! I need a glossy spring color too! laura

The blush and the eye shadow both sound so nice. I use the blush and I love it. I will look for that eye shadow the next time I'm in a drug store. Thanks for sharing at C&C with J&J.

Thank you for the review! I like Benefit cosmetics. I have been very happy with the products. I do a sample subscription from Birchbox. I enjoy trying new to me makeup products. Thru Birchbox I was introduced to Benefit and I really do love their product line.

I haven't tried those. I do love ELF's makeup brushes cause they are so inexpensive. :)

The one drugstore product I use everyday is Rimmel brand eyebrow pencil because I barely have eyebrows, haha. I have to fill them in all the time.

That eye shadow is a really pretty color!
