{Travel} Holiday Weekend in Jim Thorpe, PA - Part 1

We got away for a little weekend trip to Jim Thorpe in early December.  We had been there once before in the summer (this trip) but we wanted to check out the Christmas activities.
We stayed right outside of Jim Thorpe at the Hampton Inn Lehighton.
If you want to stay in town, I'd recommend the Inn at Jim Thorpe, that place oozes charm!
Our hotel was pretty decked out too!
We headed into to town for dinner at Stone Row Pub & Eatery.
I had this homemade macrobiotic bowl which was amazing!
We were stuffed from dinner and wanted to explore the town a little. Everything closes early there so we pretty much had the place to ourselves.
It felt like the setting of a Hallmark Christmas movie.

In the morning we went right to the train station to get our tickets for the Santa Express.

Seriously, how cute is this place?
We had a little time before the train was leaving so we went looking for a cup of coffee.

We ended up at Muggles Mug which was a coffee shop that seemed to be dedicated to all things Harry Potter.
Fun drinks!
Each Hogwars house was represented and they were playing HP movies on the wall.   Their coffee is great too!
 Back to the train station

The Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway runs a narrated round trip train ride through the Lehigh Gorge State Park and back.
During December you get to ride with Santa and friends.
The train was all decked out for Christmas too. The conductors were so sweet and full of interesting facts.
We got to see a couple of pretty waterfalls.
A little snow would have been nice but it was still a pretty trip.
Santa's helpers came out to give out treats.
Then SANTA came out to say hi to everyone and pose for pics!

What a gorgeous place to be around Christmas! There's just something about snow and lights and all that coziness:)

That sounds nice. The only time I've been to Jim Thorpe is in the summer to go river rafting.

What a beautiful place for a Christmas getaway! Do you think you'll go back next year? I love that you had a train ride with the Big Guy himself!
