[Travel} NYC-A Tale of Two Theatre Weekends!

I didn't know what to title this post because it started out as a Girls' Theatre Weekend and then there was a development that caused it to morph into something else...
Intrigued, are you? We had an overnight trip planned to NYC to see Rogers & Hammerstein's Carousel on Broadway with my sister and niece. Sounds awesome, right?
We also got matinee tickets to an Off Broadway play called Puffs or "Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic".
If you're a Harry Potter fan, you will love this show. We all want to see it again!

It was so clever and so funny!
We had just enough time to check into our hotel, get ready and go to dinner before heading out to see Carousel.
College Girl had done Carousel in summer stock so I knew the music and the story.  This was so exciting because it was the original Broadway cast of the 2018 revival and it was AMAZING!  The show and actors were nominated for a lot of Tony awards this year.
The next morning we checked out of our hotel and went to Chelsea for brunch.

We had brunch with City Girl at Urban Vegan Kitchen and walked around Washington Square Park before we had to go home.

What a fun, theatre filled weekend!
Here's where it gets interesting! I have been entering the lottery for theatre tickets on and off but I ramped up my efforts after we got home and it paid off! I couldn't believe it when I saw this email!  The lotteries are for a few select shows and if you win, you get to purchase tickets at a very reduced price. Score!
You can only get up to two tickets so just the two of us went back to NYC the following Saturday night!

We didn't know a thing about Kinky Boots so the entire show was a delightful surprise! David Cook from American Idol was the lead and he was very impressive as was the entire cast! I get the hype now!
The Al Hirschfeld Theatre was stunningly beautiful.
We were there a little early so we explored the whole place.
And...look at our seats! They were BOX SEATS!  We felt so fancy!!

Speaking of fancy, the bathroom was extra fancy! It had a fireplace and stained glass windows.
Right off of our seating area was this little private exit.
I highly recommend all of the shows we got to see.  Going to the theatre just makes me want to see ALL of the shows!  Have you seen any shows lately? What's your favorite?
Here's where you can enter the ticket lottery.
We hadn't been to a show since we saw HAMILTON last summer in Chicago.
