{Recipe} "Sausage" Stuffed Mushrooms

I've always loved those sausage stuffed mushroom hors d'oeuvres but lately I've been making a vegetarian version that is pretty darn close (without the fatty sausage guilt).
Teen 2 and I eat these for dinner when it's just the two of us.
I made this recipe two different times while photographing this post but the basic recipe is the same.
Ingredients:
Mushrooms (I use two containers of button style)
Gimme Lean Ground Vegetarian Sausage (used half of this package)
Onions - red and/or green- 1/2 chopped
Cream Cheese-4 oz
Crushed Garlic (optional)
Olive Oil
Salt & Pepper
Clean the mushrooms and stems with a damp paper towel and dry them.
Chop up the stems.
Place the mushrooms in a shallow baking dish.
Saute the chopped onions and mushroom stems in some olive oil.
Drizzle the mushrooms with some olive oil as well.
Heat up the Gimme Lean, breaking it up with a spoon.
You can add it to the already cooking veggies or cook the 'sausage' up first then add the veggies.
You can also add in some crushed garlic if you like.
I like.
Turn the heat down and add the cream cheese.
{Tofutti Better Than Cream Cheese also works well if you want to make this vegan}
Stir around until it is all mixed well and the cheese has melted.
Stuff those suckers as full as you can.
Add a little grated Parmesan/Romano cheese(or nutritional yeast for the vegan version) if you like and bake at 350F for 30 minutes.
mmmm!
Make some now!

Today is your last chance to enter my giveaway.
See you later today with the winner!
Happy Friday!!

Little Girls Bathroom Grows Up

There's nothing like having overnight guests coming to stay to kick you into home into re-do mode!
(Or at least to kick Mr Click into re-paint mode!)
College Girl was bringing a friend home over Thanksgiving so we decided it was time to update the girls' hall bathroom. Like Yesterday!
I had originally been pinning ideas to go with a red and white shower curtain that I had used as a photo backdrop here but decided to go in another direction when I found this one.
It's from Target and it's called Threshold Fern in Teal.
I had to pick out a paint color in about 15 minutes, which is sometimes the best way to do it.
We picked Benjamin Moore Province Blue.

Here's how the bathroom has evolved over the years.  I can't find a photo of how it originally looked (I will add it if I do) but it was pale pink sponged on paint over white-ish paint with a Greek key stencil running around  the room.  Not very kid friendly for a 5 and 11 year old, to say the least.
So we gave it a pop of apple green paint, some new light fixtures and Ikea art and a fun floral shower curtain.
Later, we changed out the shower curtain and towels in this Bathroom Tweaks post.

And I recently Mod Podged the switch plates here.

But now it was time for the room to grow up, just like my girls have.
{sniffle}
Onto the paint job... it happened so quickly, I barely had time to snap a few "before" shots as Mr Click was prepping the room.

A few hours later and the room was painted!
He also painted the vanity and mirror surround a fresh white.
Love it!
The new curtain really works well with the existing fixtures and tiles.
Even this rug is working out ok. I just bought it at Ikea so I'm glad I didn't have to buy a new one.
It's not perfect but it's fine for now.
Looky, looky...I even changed out the switch plates again!
Easy peasy!
I color copied the shower curtain onto white card stock.
Then I just followed the same method that I had used before to cover them using Mod Podge and an exacto knife.
It was easy to remove the old paper with a little soaking in warm water.
Now they have custom covers that match the shower curtain.
Target, call me..cay?
The girls also got a much needed new shower head and vent cover{not pictured}from Lowe's.
A little editing of accessories, adding some dried hydrangeas plus towels I already had and this party is over!  Done-zo and on the cheap!
The best part, is that they really love the new space!

My Memories Suite GIVEAWAY!!

Is it really Monday already?
  This one hit pretty hard around when we sent our daughter back to college yesterday to finish up her first semester. {wow!}

If you've got a case of the Monday Blues like I do, hopefully this giveaway will cheer you up!

I am a big scrapbooker so I was thrilled when MyMemories.com contacted me to host another giveaway for their digital scrapbooking software.   In their words...
My Memories Suite is an award winning digital scrapbook software that is extremely easy and fun to use. My Memories Suite is rated #1 by Amazon and TopTen Reviews. Using this software, anyone can create digital scrapbooks, photobooks, cards, calendars and gifts without having to buy expensive and complicated software programs.
They gave me a copy of the software to preview the program.
Here are a few of the quick pages that I whipped up.
This pattern reminded me of Missoni.
There are endless possibilities with the software.  I had so much fun experimenting and embellishing my pages.  It was hard to stop!
There is "word art" for page titles, all kinds of backgrounds and themes for your pages and unlimited layout ideas.  It can automatically fill your pages with your photos if you like or you can choose where to put them.  You can add video clips, music and narration to your albums as well.
You can also edit your photos right in the program.  I found the program very easy to use.  When you are done making your album, you can either print it out at home or have the company print it for you.  There are a lot of ways to share and view your completed albums.
NOW is the perfect time to get your holiday photos and/or your 2012 photos organized and displayed.

The best part is that one of YOU also gets to win a copy of the My Memories Suite software
($39.97 value).

{Tutorial} Make a Floppy Bow Tie Out of a Blouse

She needed a big floppy bow tie for her White Rabbit Costume.
We couldn't find one so we decided to make our own.
Out of a thrifted shirt of course--she wanted polka dots.
See everything we thrifted for this costume here.

{I did all this during the power outage and used my phone to take the photos.}
We had a generator running so I was able to plug in the iron.
First I cut a rectangle out of the back of the shirt and ironed it.

I used fusible interface to give the fabric a little stability.
I folded the rough edges of the rectangle and ironed them down with the fusible web.
I didn't measure, just eyeballed it.
Then I folded the rectangle into pleats (looks like one rough edge wasn't ironed down yet).

Once I had ironed all of the folds, I pinched it together to see how it would look and it passed inspection.
Onto the center of the tie.  I cut out another (smaller) rectangle
and followed the same steps as I did with the larger one to finish it off.
I wrapped it around the center of the folded up tie to check it out.
Looked ok to me.
I stitched the folds together.
Then I stitched the smaller rectangle around the bow tie.
A view from the back.
And the front...
I attached some elastic to the bow tie and voila
The White Rabbit had her tie!
