Notice anything different in these two photos?

Ok, look really closely...

I'll give you a hint,

it's not the laptop, cup, oranges, dish towel (so cute, right?) or the garland on the chandy--although they are all differences. I'm talking about something else.

You need to look REALLY closely!!

After completing our bead board island, we noticed the wood underside of our granite countertop sticking out.  Of course we are probably the only ones to notice it but decided to paint it anyway.

We also finished off this area.

It used to look like this.

Remember this post when I decluttered?

 We added more bead board.

 It was a trickier area to cover and needed some additional molding on the top and sides.

 We used a little trim piece and a dowel.

Adding the Blackberry (Benjamin Moore) paint really made it pop.

Here's the other side of the island (before painting the underside of the counter top).

We are done (for now).

Disney Trip '11 {Day 1}

Did you know we love Disney?

Well we do!!

We waited all summer to go there.

It was worth the wait. 

We almost didn't get there.

Thanks, Irene.

But after a hurricane, no power or internet, cancelled flights and major anxiety...

rebooked flights....and finally getting out....we got there.

We were staying at the Grand Floridian.

It exceeded my expectations. (Wasn't sure if we'd love it as much as our favorite, Polynesian).

The rooms were cold and the air was hot so this is what happened until my camera adjusted to the temperature.

On our first night, we had dinner booked with my sister's family at Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

We arrived a little early so we looked around and saw this.

You can stay in rooms overlooking the Savannah. 

Dinner at Jiko-The Cooking Place-was Fabulous with a capital F.

It was lovely to get back to our room and crash after a long day.

Missoni Plus Tarjay Equals LOVE

Did you catch any of the Missoni awesomeness at your local Target?

My daughter totally scooped me on all of this but I'm glad she let me in on it.

She had school that day so I waited until she got home to head over to Target to see if anything was left.

It was all pretty picked over but we managed to come home with a few spoils.

She fell for this men's sweater and has been wearing it ever since.

It's got the total boyfriend-cozy-sweater vibe going for it.

I really don't 'need' another fall coat but I loved this one and I feel somewhat ultra chic in it.

The lining is the best part of this coat!

I encouraged her to try this dress on and it rocked!!

She styled it up when we got home and will be wearing it to a special event soon.

She also got some tights

and some cool bobby pins.

It was really hard to not to buy everything that was left but we restrained ourselves to these few items.

She's a Middle Schooler-Fall Fashion Preview

Now I've got one in high school and one in middle school.

It's hard to believe!

A Lil' Fall Thrifting

 Hit up the Will of Good the other day and found a few things.

 These turkey salt and pepper shakers were too cute to pass up. 

I thought they'd make cute "book ends" for my dining room table centerpiece, come Turkey Time.

They were $1.97/each and I'm very pleased with the price since I saw similar ones at Pier 1 today for $8/each!  Mine are also Made in Japan, which I thought was pretty cool.

 I also snagged this rustic candle holder for 97 pennies.

The candle is all melted out but I like it for it's shape and color and probably won't put a candle in it.

It fits right in with our neutral mantel (until I change my mind and get out the spray paint).

This oval galvanized tub also hopped into my shopping cart.  I'm sure I'll find lots of uses for it. Someone had already drilled holes in the bottom if I want to use it for a planter.
I also think it will be a handy helper at parties for holding utensils, napkins and plates or a mini drink cooler filled with ice (outside of course).

She's a senior!

 And apparently too busy rushing out the door (on a rainy first day) to pose for me.

FAIL!

She promised a re-take and we had a nice morning for it later in the week.

Off she went (and driving to school this year!)

 I know it's going to fly so I want to remember this moment in time.

{Recipe}Zucchini Cakes

YUM!

 I made these for dinner the other night after pinning them-and dreaming about them.

Follow me here on Pinterest if you'd like.

They sounded delicious- with parmesan, panko and paprika (the three P's!)

The recipe is nice and easy.  The hardest part is grating the zucchini but it's 'grate' for getting out your frustrations (who me?).  

After it's all grated, squeeze all the excess liquid out and then add all the ingredients together .

Form into patties and heat up some olive oil.

Fry the patties until golden brown.

Flipping once (or twice) until they are the right golden brown for you.

The recipe said to enjoy with ranch dressing but we liked them just plain on a plate.

I should have doubled the recipe, we gobbled them up!
