Valentine's Mantel

There's a Valentine's Day Mantel party going on over at Beth's and I'm participating.

Here is how our mantel looked for Christmas.

After Christmas I left up some of the red and white pieces and added a cranberry garland.

I finally got out my Valentine's decorations (I don't have that many).

A heart shaped flower box and some sentimental artwork.

I put a photo of my girls under the cheese dome/cloche and some other decorations.

I used the letter blocks to spell out a few things..

The red Ikea lanterns and candle are still looking good.

I found this Valentine printable here and framed it...super quick and cheap!

{Getting Crafty} School Valentines..more candy canes

We are using more candy canes! 

Remember my wreath?

My daughter decided to make her school valentine's out of candy canes too.

Start out with some candy canes.

She used a low temp glue gun to make the hearts.

Hold them together for a few seconds until they set.

Repeat for as many valentine's that you'll need.

Leave the finished candy cane hearts in this dish until your mom picks up the labels you'll need to finish this project.

Punch out some card stock tags.

Use Word to make up some labels

and print out on round labels

Punch out the hole at the top of the tags

So they look like this.

Tie the tags onto the hearts with some ribbon.

And you've got a creative (and thrifty) valentine!

My favorite posts from 2010

Is it too late to reflect back on the my last 10 months of blogging? I hope not, because here I go.
My daughter's sweet 16 party with her friends was a highlight of 2010 for sure.  She was involved in all of the preparations from shopping, to tablescapes, flowers, favors, invitations and menus.

We also hosted a family brunch for her birthday and I had fun with this photo booth idea and citrus-ey color scheme.

In April we made mega-blogger Pioneer Woman's sinfully delicious cinnamon rolls.

I also posted about our Easter trip to Walt Disney World

How could I forget our amazing experience of Cooking with the Chef with our friends?

In June we tried our hand at a watermelon fountain.

and brought it to Italian Night .

In July I took you along on our trip to Montreal.

I also showed you how I turned some thrift store frames into a bed side vignette.

and went berry picking with my kids.

In August we got a little crafty making twine bottles and sock monkeys 

threw a tie dye slumber party

and grilled up some tasty pizzas on the grill.

We redid our pantry on the cheap.

Went to NYC for a night.

updated our mantel for fall

and re-did our teen's room

We also organized and painted our laundry room.

and threw a rustic French birthday party.

and made these chalkboard vases.

We also made these alphabet blocks

and dined around the World.

Made a holiday decoration with a twist.

and rang in the New Year.

That was quite a walk down memory lane.  Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!
