My Daughter's NYC Adventure

July was a busy month for my kids.
My oldest went off to NYC for an intense pre-college fashion design program at an art school.
Youngest had her own adventure (more on that later).
The program was pretty amazing.  They got to experience a little bit of college life--living in a dorm with a roommate, taking classes, etc but still had an 11 pm curfew every night.
They also had fabulous weekend activities like seeing Broadway shows and cruising around the city on a Circle Line Cruise, to name a few.
(where she took this photo)
Her fashion class had lots of field trips like this one to the famous fabric store-- Mood!!
Do you watch Project Runway??
"Thank you Mood!"
They got to go to hat designer Jaqueline Lamont's showroom (and shop her sample sale!)
She was thrilled to get to  the Met to see the Alexander McQueen Exhibit and had a few other museum trips as well, but this was by far her favorite.
Some of her inspiration boards and sketches.

They also had to take Foundation courses in Drawing and Painting and Portfolio Prep.
I couldn't believe how much work they accomplished in such a short time!
She'll have more pieces for her portfolio now.

Their final project for fashion was to create a garment out of any repetitive object.
It's very fitting that she chose coffee filters since she pretty much survived on coffee that month.

This skirt is so cute on, it's like a tutu. It's very fragile though.
We were invited to their final exhibition on the last day of the program.
We met a lot of her new friends as she was saying good bye to them.
Of course these days, they can stay connected very easily so they can still keep in touch even though they are all over the world.
I hope she'll always treasure this experience!!

What a talent! And what wonderful parents you are for allowing her to do what she loves!

P.S. Does she ever look like her dad.
