Too Many Apples?

Our trip to the apple orchard sort of reminded me of the book Too Many Pumpkins that I used to read to the kids.
If you don't know the story, it's about a woman who grew up to hate pumpkins because she'd had an overabundance of them and had to eat them all of the time, in every possible way. It just so happened that a pumpkin truck dropped some pumpkins on her property one day and no matter what she did, the pumpkins grew and grew until she had too many pumpkins herself.  I won't ruin the ending for you but it turns out that too much of something isn't always a bad thing.

Heading off to the orchards...where has the time gone?
It's always nice to look around the cutting garden while we're waiting for the wagon.

.

First we picked some Golden Delicious apples...
Then some Empires...

They both wanted to go up on the ladder for the best apples.  I was ok with that!

And some Pinatas...

Gorgeous!

We also bought some Honey Crisps that happen to be our favorite right now and some cider.
Here are some of the apples we picked.

In our case there weren't too many, we've been making some yummy things(recipes to follow) with all of those apples and eating them right up.  Have you gone apple picking yet?

Oh Heather! Picking apples was something I always did with my kids. That crisp scent in the air, the taste of a juicy apple bursting in your mouth.

Thanks for this lovely memory.

It made me smile.

I've actually never picked apples! You do make it look fun though, and the girls are just adorable in their get ups.

And your youngest is a ham!

What fun and creative ways to spend an autumn day - very practical too! And if your place is like our local orchards, I bet it was a good way to save money as well. :) A lovely day and a lovely Rednesday!
